Hello all dell users. I've finally bought my first dell, for awhile now i've been an apple fan. I've own a powerbook, macbook, and then a macbook pro. My latest macbook pro got stolen, so my insurance is buying me a new one. I decided to cash out and buy a M6400. I do alot of 3d modelling so this particular laptop is very appealing to me, I was turned onto the m6400 through my younger brother who owns an m6300.

The specs on this baby is :

--Intel Core 2 Quad QX9300 (2.53GHz, 12M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate

-- 17 inch UltraSharp WUXGA (1920x1200) LCD Display

    -- NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M, 1.0GB Discrete

-- Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card

    -- 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (2 DIMMs)

    -- 8X DVD ROM Drive

-- 160 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200RPM) 2nd Drive

-- 160 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200RPM)

    ------

i picked this laptop up for a little over 2k. hopefully it isn't really beaten up. I dont mind a few scratches. Anybody have good experience with a Scratch & Dent.

Some Dell S&D units, you would be hard pressed to be able to determine why they called them "Scratch and Dent" and other ones look like they were dragged behind the truck to delivery. Most look very good, just not perfect.

Yours will be a good one! Or, send it back!:D

i havn't looked into return policy. sorry that im not familiar with dells returns. For refurb's and scratch & dent's are there restocking fee? i got mix feelings while searching this up. i've seen postings that they had no hassle no restocking fees for refurb laptops. any idea. anybody?

That is one poweful laptop :)
Pick up another 4GB of ram at newegg for another $50 :D

Do post pics when t arrives

There might be a few minor nicks, but well worth it for getting such an uber-laptop for ~2k

Dont bring it next to an MBP though. The MBPs feel so ashamed and insecure that they will self destruct :D

BTW, were there RGBLEDs in outlet ? And how did your laptop get stolen ? What insurance did you have ? Enquiring minds want to know.

Sweet! Im pretty sure ill be happy with the laptop, Im buying it purely cause of it's power & aesthetics, (love the way it's designed) but a few minor scratches wont bother me. I just dont want something that has a giant dent on it.

I might just have to buy another 4gb of ram. I'm excited.

and it definitely is a good price. For the specs this laptop comes with it should be well near or over 4k.

Yes, I saw an RGBLED last night. it was refurbed. and costed 2900. thats a pretty good price being that it was maxed out. with a quad core and the 3700 card.

    Dell outlet rocks!!!

from my experience from buying laptops from outlet,
scratch & dent is the ones sells at lowest price yet with highest quality and tech savvy configurations.
refurbs are the ones having a ton of problems, 50% of all refurbs i bought from outlet require replacements, and dell usually honors them.

I dont know if people are speaking from recent experience, but I ahve bought several systems in the past few months from the outlet and wanted to return one and they wanted to stick me with the 15% restocking fee. The only way I got around it was that there was a technical problem with the system, I opened a ticket with support and then called back to customer service asking for a return.
