Do you know if this sounds like a board issue? Not sure if anyone else is or has experienced this issue and was able to resolve it. What is happening, 2" of the screen on the left size dims on and off every once in a while, it happens during bios or in windows which is telling me that its hardware related. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks!

You might need a new screen.

Have a m4800 with windows 8.1 2TB SSD RAID with 32 GB ram and sometimes when I'm streaming movies with HBO GO it will get a little choppy and the movie will freeze intermittently or skip during the stream. It happens very quickly and skips to next scene. Is there something I need to update or anything? This doesn't happen with my gf's Macbook and my t400s thinkpad. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi all,

I just got a new M4800, and I'm really enjoying it so far. One question I have is related to the contrast of the display. I have the FHD display with Firepro M5100. The brightness is easy to change, but I can't figure out how to change the contrast (or other display features). I found the color calibration option, but it doesn't give me an option for adjusting contrast. I also looked around in the AMD Catalyst Control Center, but couldn't find anything. Thanks!

Edit: in case any one else is ever having this problem, I figured out a really simple solution. Right click on desktop-->Intel Graphics Properties-->Display-->Color

What else is running of the laptop at the same time? With this large amount of memory it is easily possibly to overwhelm the the hard drive when the OS starts to sync out dirty buffers. So much so that that the application decoding the film will run out of buffered data and will have to wait for the queued IOs to subside to gets its own IO through.
This is not a sign of bad hardware, but of a non-optimized OS. Optimizing this is an art.
So far not many end-user machines with 32GB have been around, so Windows is most likely not optimized for this. With a server workload you don't really care. There only your throughput is important, not your interactiveness.

I agree completely @Neuffer, its an art! it took me up untill now to config my system. although I am running W7x64 and 32 GB of crucial (replaced samsung generic).

I had Ram Disk on and off applications turned on constantly running 3 screens and bringing the 4900QM to its knees with rendering and all is well so far. I should say that I done BF4 marathon and tried all drivers available Nvidia driver 332.76 gives me best performance so far. (it can be found by going to nvidia sait and chosing beta drivers etc link is located right below the driver filter)

I was really annoyed when my Laptop was unstable but since my replacement came through all came back to norm. Its heavy but it stays quiet and glitch free which is awsome its rare to have laptop that just works.

for video and audio I'd recomend to use "low latency mode" you can locate it in power settings when you click on small battery" I have noticed a difference doing the multicam edit (which can really show whats inside laptop in terms of hardware) anyway this is my happy comments. anyone got a clue what the other slot is for inside the machine near where wifi card is called 1/2 MC (PP)? can it be used for something "usefull"

I believe Dell intended this slot for some crypto accellerator card.
And yes, I've been wondering what kind of card I could put in there too.
I don't think there are any SSDs around that are small enough to fit in there. ;-)
