    Well, that got me up to this. Still not too happy. I guess I'll experiment a bit and see if I can improve at all.

    EDIT: Dell's download page errors at the moment, I'll keep checking back there and see if they get it back up.

    Just a heads-up, if you're going to buy the Newmodeus caddy, but have Amazon Prime? Looks like Newmodeus is selling on Amazon now. Free shipping ahoy!

    So if you drop it, the chassis will be fine but everything else in it will be destroyed.

    Then there is something very wrong with your system: graphics score is 1/3rd of mine, and even your supposedly faster CPU is a bit (2%) slower.

    Reformat and fresh install ???

    Anyone have any experience on running Linux on M4800? (I'll probably install Xubuntu, unless there's a distro with better support for the system?)

    I'm concerned about 2 things - 1) Optimus, how well does it work? 2) Dell wireless card drivers

    I have Microsoft sleeve and its a perfect fit. It is padded and has handle which is handy because the laptop is quite heavy.

    1) The is no Optimus with the QHD+ display
    2) The 1601 works fine out of the box. I however swapped it out for the Intel AC-7260 recently which works even better.

    When you boot the system you must remember to set "nomodeset"
    This is possible on the installimage via some F<X> menu.
    Later you must adapt /etc/default/grub
    I have it currently set to:
    Code:
    GRUB_DEFAULT=0
    #GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
    GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=10
    GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomdmonddf nomdmonisw crashkernel=384M-:128M"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset allow-discards root_trim=yes"
