Just added my mSata Crucial M500 480Gb SSD. Just open the laptop, place the mSata card, close and turn on. The msata drive is found by HWinfo but does not appear in Windows explorer. Do I miss something? thanks!

You need to initialize it in Disk Management first before it shows up in Explorer.

MBR is usually the default, both works fine anyways.

You should use GPT if you're using a drive that's bigger than 2TB, which isn't the case here, go with MBR.

Depends on what you want to do with that SSD as well. I put my OSes on SSDs, my data on a HDD in the optical bay. My OS disks are all formatted GPT so that I can easily boot them, since I'm using UEFI.

    Your answers come with questions.

sorry you lost it , dont worry though , there is always another one around the corner.

i lost 2 and finally got one for a great deal sealed with 3 yr warranty and office home and bus. 2013 for 1000$ cad.

i had to upgrade the screen and ram myself, im happy with it though.

good luck on the future purchase.

Cheers everyone! New here, great site with great info!! Looking to be a new m4800 owner by the end of the week…hopefully :D So, the past couple of days I have read and searched most of this thread, the m3800 thread, and other sites trying to decide on options. Just deciding between the two screen choices and video cards alone is pretty frustrating!! So I’m calling on all fellow CAD draftsmen, designers, engineers, architects (or similar) mainly using for typical office tasks, 2d drawings with little 3d…what are the pros & cons, and specs of your m4800!! I was looking at the current $1569 configuration?

    Thanks much everyone!!

Someone know if it's possible to have the NumLock always" On" when I turn on the laptop? Thanks!

Have you checked the BIOS? I prefer NumLock to always be off, but it's frequently a BIOS option.

If you arecl working 2d cad even intel hd gpu will run things fine. But once you move to 3d it all depends on how complex are your assemblies. I would say that you cant go wrong with firepro m5100 that is offered in m4800. Just remember windows and drivers dont always use dedicated graphics card automaticly so you might have to tell drivers to use dedicated gpu manualy. I had to do the same thing with my quadro 4000m so it not a question of amd vs nvidia.
