    I was spotting this one too. Gonna buy one. What's the procedure to have the mSata Drive working? Just install it and maybe format? Something to do in the Bios? Thanks!

    As far as I know it should just be plug and play.

    Anyone else who has problem with BSOD's when going to sleep mode? It happens about 1/2 of the times when I'm on battery and 1/3 of the times when the charger is plugged in. I have not found any information about anyone else with the same problem.

    I also have issues with system interupts which takes up almost 10% of the processor. I don't know what the issue is, but I've found a temporary fix which is to go into sleep mode, wait 20s and then wake it up again. But that only works if I don't get a blue screen...

    I have the FHD version with FirePro card.

    At least the slice-batterie of my old E6520 is interchangeable with the new M4800 :)

    By the way - Idle Test (battery life):
    Motherboard+CPU+RAM+Harddisk = ca. 3,6 Watt = >26 hours (50 hours with slice)
    3_5Watt.png 49hours.png

    PDF-Readers-Test:
    FHD-Display (53% Brightness) + ca. 2,9 Watt =6,5 Watt => 13,5 hours (27 hours with slice)

    Internet-Readers-Test:
    WLAN 7260 + ca. 1,1 Watt = 7,6 Watt => 12 hours (24 hours with slice)

    This M4800 Notebook is realy good.
    Before choosing the M4800, I have checked Lenovo, HP, Dell E6540 etc. Sorry, a QHD display is not important according to my requirements.

    Possitive surprise: Intel XTU is working with the stock BIOS.
    4800mq@3,8GHz (up to 4,1 GHz?)
    4800mq@800MHz@570MilliVolt
    Extreme performance and low voltage within the same
    notebook - I like that.

    But the thermal compound has to be replaced because a 21 degrees jump idle-to-load is a sign of a little misconfiguration. I am planning to publish results and more information on this repaste topic next weekend.

    I recently got an m4800 with i7 4800MQ, FirePro m5100, and FHD screen.

    Not very happy so far. Issues:

    Fan noise even when idle. Boots up quiet, but then the fans kick in. I check the temps with HWMonitor, and CPU cores are at 46-51*C when idle. Okay. . .

    AMD graphics control center is nowhere to be found. Check device manager, and videocard is there, so I guess I will have to manually install.

    System is rather sluggish. Using the 500GB hybrid drive. Looked online, there is a firmware update for the drive. Okay, so I will install. Hmmm, needs USB drive to boot from, okay. Setup USB flash drive using the firmware utility, reboot and. . . don't see the drive anywhere. Only boot option I see is the hard drive. So I can't boot from USB. That's nice.

    USB ports die when hooked up to docking part. So I dock the laptop, turn it on, and I hear the device "connect/reconnect" several times, and my USB mouse works intermittently, before dying. No USB ports on the laptop or dock work. Shut down, remove from dock, boot up, and USB ports work. It just so happens that I got 2 docking ports, so I try the other one and get the same problem.

    All aggravated by using Windows 8 for the first time. Ughhh, start menu, why?!?!?

    I usually build my PCs, but I needed a laptop for work (Solidworks), and I wanted something RELIABLE. Something I can turn on and BAM. Off to work. Yeah, so much for that. What was the point of paying a premium for a workstation computer, ugh.

    Well, anyways, do my issues seem unusual? If so, I guess I will return. Will try updating windows and video drivers for now. Just annoying as I was prepared to switch over to my new lappy today, and instead I find myself wasting time and getting nowhere.

    [In Response to PieIsAwesome: Fan noise even when idle…]

    Did you install your Win8 yourself? There is a Re-image Guide that details correct procedure. It’s quite comprehensive. I’m not sure if that helps, I’m yet about to re-install, myself.
    Factory-installed Win 7 Pro works very quiet for me, though—not what you describe. (Have K1100M though.)
