There's some really great deals on eBay - I was also able to find the D5000 wireless dock for $32+$10 shipping.

So any docking station that works with M6700/4700 should work with M4800?

I believe so (I've yet to hear anything different).

Make sure that you use an adequate power adapter with your dock. A Latitude power adapter is less than 180W and may result in throttling.

Can you please check what is the model & vendor of LCD panel that you have? This info is easy to find via HWInfo32/64 or similar program.

See below - it's a Sharp panel - I thought they make all the IGZO screens right now?

Is the QHD+ screen really IGZO? I don't see it mentioned on the product page.

On the M3800 they specify IGZO.

I just set up a return for my M4800 with the FHD screen. It's really quite bad. I'm now about 75% sure I'm going to return the E6540 as well and likely re-order the M4800 with the QHD+. I just don't want to end up with another subpar screen. *sigh*

Indeed. Did some Google Fu and seems that it is. Thanks.

That's good news. Might just have to go for it.

The E6540 cost me $1868 with 5 years basic support and accidental damage. The M4800 with QHD will work out to $2132 with 3 years support (+1 extra year of extended basic warranty from my AMEX card).

Now to have yet another internal debate about whether it's worth it...

I'm just using the darned machine to surf the web basically (no CAD or anything) and I'm unhappy with my last consumer-grade machine falling apart (broken at both hinges but otherwise going fine and I'd keep using it otherwise) so I want something more sturdy. I spend so much time staring at the screen though that I want the best I can get assuming this machine will last me at least another 5 years or so. I don't see my usage changing whatsoever so I don't foresee needing to upgrade for more processing power any time soon. Again, it's not like I'll be using the machine for work purposes.
