Its unusual that a panel is not in their database, searching for the -201 variant gives almost nothing on any search engine or any database but it happens sometimes. Its probably a special order by Dell to be used only in the M4800.
And yes as your resolution is so low it must be 40 pin LVDS.
And all the other variants within the same model number are all LVDS based.

I though it was odd too, the only hits I got was from a Russian site.

Thanks, yeah it has to be 40pin LVDS

I found this LCD screen https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Dell/PRECISION~M4800/

I just need to confirm with the seller if its a 40pin LVDS. It is it possible to buy a eDP cable if its not the case and replace the LVDS one?

    Thanks,

    SM

No, your system either has an LVDS or eDP port on the motherboard (not both) so you must buy the same type of display. Early M4800 had LVDS and later ones had eDP.

Thanks, I did some more research, I think I have all that I did.

I need to get a 40pin 1080p display - I will need to purchase a LVDS dual channel cable as I believe the cable I have is only single channel due to the low resolution display .

    That should be all

    HI smvb64Newbie,

(chuckle) I had just logged in to ask the same question! Here are the panels that I have found so far:

    N156HGE-L11 / VCM8X

    Brightness - 300 nits
    Contrast Ratio - 600:1
    Viewing Angle - 70/70/60/60

    LP156WFC-TLB1 / 0DC9YJ

    Brightness - 300 nits
    Contrast Ratio 500 : 1
    Viewing Angle - 60/60/50/50

    http://www.panelook.com/LP156WFC-TLB1_LG Display_15.6_LCM_overview_18458.html

    B156HW02 V1 / F2J5X

    Brightness - 300 nits
    Contrast Ratio - 400:1
    Viewing Angle - 70/70/60/60

    http://www.panelook.com/B156HW02 V1_AUO_15.6_LCM_overview_688.html

I just tried a B156HW01 V4 from a Lenovo, but the panel was very light. Not sure if the panel is good though.

I'll post up if I find anything else.

    A couple of questions:
    1. If the system description says no webcam, does this mean also no microphone?

    2. Can this be upgraded from 1920x1080 to a 4k screen? If so, where can I get the LCD?
    Has anyone done it here?

    Hi Kyle,

The webcam is usually integrated into the webcam, so no mic = no webcam. If your looking at buying one without the mic/webcam, replacement webcams are about $5.00 USD and new bezels go for around $10 - 20 USD.

Which motherboard do you have? If your board has a 30 pin connector, then maybe? Try putting in the service tag number here:

    https://www.parts-people.com/

And the site will tell you which screens will fit your laptop.

    Thanks.

I am not sure what motherboard I have. I put in my service tag number, and for the UHD screen, it says incompatible.

So I guess that means I cannot upgrade to 4k screen?

OK, motherboards with these part numbers are LVDS only:

    W7R2C
    THP1N
    T3YTY

Motherboards with these part numbers are EDP only:

    C3V2K
    8KWV8
    WNW0H

So if you want to run a 4K panel, you will have to upgrade your motherboard and video cable also.

(EDIT) A quick check on eBay shows that a motherboard upgrade would be around $90.00 USD, plus another $16 USD for the video cable to run the UHD panel, (Dell P/N: 93YWD).

(EDIT 2) The C3V2K motherboard is a bit more reasonable at $43.00 and up.

Really it comes down to how badly you want the QHD/UHD panel. But for around $150 - $200 USD, you could do the upgrade.
