Hi all. I have m4800 with lvds screen(1080p tn 40pin F2J5X) and quadro 2100m. Can I upgrade to igzo QHD and gtx965m?

I believe the QHD mobo is different due to the lack of optimus support. I'm not 100% sure, but I think you're out of luck for that particular upgrade.

QHD should still have Optimus. It's the 4k model that doesn't have it. At least that has been my experience from buying and selling quite of few M4800s.

This is incorrect. I got the QHD IGZO screen right when it came out, and tore Dell a new one for advertising Optimus even though it was unavailable to me. Here's one thread from late 2013, before the 4k version was available.

And here's a definitive knowledge base article from Dell.

Hmm, I could have sworn that I have seen Optimus on QHD. Guess I was wrong.

Not sure if it's actually a different motherboard, it could be that Optimus is automatically disabled in the BIOS is the QHD/UHD display is present because the Intel GPU isn't capable of driving it.
Not sure how you would tell without trying...

Example: M6700 has the same motherboard for IPS and non-IPS display, but Optimus is not available if an IPS display is used (because the Intel GPU can't do 10-bit-per-color color output).

    Hi,

Extemely late to the party, first ever Dell laptop purchased (long time ThinkPad user).
    It's a M4800 with i7-4940MX processor & K2100M, 32gb Ram x3 SSD's.

Processor runs a bit toasty even with new Gelid paste and thorough clean out.

Can any owners with Intel Extreme processors give me an idea of expected temp ranges within Windows?
