M4800 Owner's Thread

Not sure if I would upgrade to that one. New microcode is a rushed hack job

 

\Guys, after a dodgy M2000M didn't work in my M4800, I've since removed the hardware, replaced the K2100M, removed old drivers and re-installed the original K2100M drivers. The original card is functioning normally.

My PC is still booting up in test mode "Build 7601". yet I'm not sure why it should still be defaulting to this afterall, there's no unsigned drivers installed that should make the PC boot in this mode?

 

That's the other way around - test mode needs to be activated in order to be able to install unsigned drivers. The unsigned drivers don't (and can't) "force" test mode on.

 

No issues here (so far).

These are confirmed, not speculation. Intel has already stopped pushing updates to put something out that doesnt send errors at stock and at worst killing CPU's altogether.

 

There's some issue for sure... We have a M4800 that has BSOD two or three times since the firmware was installed last week, and my 7510 is also getting periodic BSOD. Can't wait for the fixed version...

 

You are correct there, youll get WHEA errors in logs, and would be UNABLE to downgrade Intel ME so if one goes to A21- one doesent go back AT ALL.

 

Can those who have <A21 BIOS (and or any other ie A15-18) on M4800 check event log for me please. and check if you are getting following WHEA error,

"A corrected hardware error has occurred.
Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Corrected Machine Check Error
Type: Internal parity error
Processor APIC ID:" 4,2,0 ect...?

Apparent fix for such is FOUND IN DELL FORUMS, which proves me right again I did predict and pointed out that back-doors were DEEPER than what was told to users. for a looooong time. heres an article What are Meltdown and Spectre relating to WHEA errors, worth a read, if you have comprehension still intact as per being still human.
