On the nvidia system do any of the port configurations change with or without optimus enabled ?
Can I daisy chain any of the DP or is that with firepro only?

Thank you now for the real money question. Since its using the pin out for the hdmi cable to provide one DP cable does that mean each of the docking stations DP are 1.2 or 1.1.

Thanks again for all the info so far.

Way more help that dell support on this.

I'm about to get one of these is the 4k better than QHD+ screen. Just stuck on which one to order. The 4k is going to cost me about $125 more. In general everyone has been happy with there m4800? Was going to get the xps 9550 or precision 7710 but this is much cheaper now. Can I put 3 or 4 drives in? And does it still use msata and not the m.2? Thanks

Also how is the amd 5100 firepro vs the k1100m? Huge difference?

I can pick the k1100m with 3200x1800 or the 4k with amd 5100

There is no support for M.2. Options are one 2.5" SATA drive, a second 2.5" drive if you install it in the optical drive bay with a caddy, and an mSATA card.

So the k2100m (optimus disabled is key to this working) on a dell m4800 with an old pr02x docking station with the two DP ports. When docked the HDMI is Confirmed not working. However each DP is a SEPARATE 1.2 MST Dp connection. These can both occupy the maximum number of displays allowed for the band width of a 1.2. We tested this running 4 1440p displays 32 bit color 60Hz. The internal screen still worked and we had a 1080p off VGA. So 6 total displays two 1080 and 4 1440. There is one flaw being the DP end chain monitors ads 15 seconds of black screens after docking until they come up.

Also we did notice that playing a video on the 4 monitors and dragging a window around on the other two made for some terrible input lag as we assume that's fully saturated the k2100m design.

Needless to say based on our testing you should be able to push two 4ks with optimus turned off and still use your primary and an analog if you have a 1080 or older 768 integrated display.

Edit : with optimus enabled the docks one DP is run by the Intel graphics which doesn't have MST (would just clone display but not extend) but still claimed to be 1.2. While DP 2 wouldn't daisy chain at all. So I'm assuming that optimus has some limits since its blocking the card.

Edit edit: nvidia surround does not work with any display in the daisy chain.
Also this is a work PC so no games were tested.

Hope this info is helpful for someone.

In the BIOS, right next to the switchable graphics option, there is a toggle for whether you want this DP to be powered by the discrete GPU or integrated GPU. You should be able to have all DisplayPorts on the NVIDIA card even with Optimus enabled. Not sure if that would actually allow your daisy-chain configuration...

Yeah tried that setting first and it still wouldn't allow a daisy chain on either dock port. However it did change what port was powering the onboard DP.

I have no intention of using win10 but I may do the upgrade to a blank disk just so 3 years from now I can use win10 if need be. How does it figure it out from the uuid off the cpu?
