When flashing a message appears: "BIOS upgrade blocked due to unsupported downgrade"

It appears the LP156FW4 (SP) (L1) screen is not compatible with the Dell m4800. I ran into the same issues. When I tried the LP156FW4 (SP) (L1) in the laptop that had the original 1080p screen, it would not work either.

Check the release notes on the web site (for new BIOS, I think). You should be able to downgrade but you will have to do it in steps.

I ran a few more tests. I could only get the LP156FW4 (SP) (L1) version to work in the original m4800 with the original 1080P screen if I disabled the switchable graphics option in the bios. The LP156FW4 (SP) (L1) will not work with switchable graphics while the original panel that Dell shipped with the m4800 - LP156WF6(SP)(B1) - will.

It seems the LP156WF6(SP)(B1) is in short supply. I took a chance and ordered one from Amazon marketplace. The description indicates its a LP156WF6(SP)(B1) and not a compatible panel like so many of the ebay listings seem to indicate. I will post an update when it arrives.

I managed to downgrade to A11. Tried A9 and A6 but both failed with message "BIOS upgrade blocked due to unsupported downgrade"

Still having A10 on my disk… I don’t think I’m allowed to “distribute” it, though.

    However, I can provide this:
    File: M4800A10.exe
    CRC-32: 538fba6a
    MD4: 101a69c62252a0f25a414f9230fb641d
    MD5: 6ae0f97802d1c48e058e95165ecf8d2a
    SHA-1: ab515b824f0c5168e15347440a492897808c1841

In case you could find it anywhere… Yet I googled a little with no luck. :(
