Hi guys. I have a request: could any of you check in your M4800 the Dell P/N for the mic module (without cam)? I have recently bought the M6800 without any mic or cam and I want to buy a mic module. Sadly, I cannot find it anywhere, because many Dell parts aren't labelled for the Precision series.

You can find the part number in your System configuration under Product Support: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag. Alternatively, you can read it directly from the mic module. All you need to to it to pry up the top edge of the display bezel with a credit card like this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dx23abaps8jrobw/20150427_003944.jpg?dl=0

Watch out though, you can easily damage the bezel's hitches. Do it gently. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: For anyone interested I've got a response from the Dell Support:
    - mic module: Y1JDX
    - cam module: 767N9

Hello mates. A little update on my m4800 with true 4k and 100% Adobe RGB. I had noticeable back light bleeding, plus stripped screw hole in the chassis. Dell service replaced the chassis, almost smoothly (it was a second time something didn't fit well and front pad was bulging, but the guy was quick and nice, didn't try to convince me it was supposed to be that way).

The screen they sent me was... LQ156Z1JW02, which is 3200x1800. Needless to say I need my 100% @ 4k. So that wasn't fixed. My panel is LQ156D1JW02 VA (apparently JW01 and JW04 are known on panel lookup). Electrically panels are compatible (he didn't put bezel on, but screwed panel in place) and windows booted.

On the bright side - in the process I asked him to repaste CPU&GPU with my GELID GC-EXTREME. Now, running simultaneously stress tests by Intel extreme utility and MSI kombuster got me CPU temp up to 95C and K2100M up to 55C. NO THROTTLING and GPU is overclocked! Whooo hoooo! Earlier, CPU test alone would cause throttling of at least 30%. Now it runs on 3.76-3.79GHz, 4 cores like a charm (you should get the unobstructed airflow, obviously).

Anyone know if the keyboard de-bounce issue in Linux has been fixed with the latest firmware?

I haven't seen any more keyboard problems in Ubuntu with the A13 BIOS.

Alright, I went ahead and bought an m4800 and received it yesterday! It's still within the return period so I'm deciding whether or not I want to keep it. It has an m5100, an i7 4710m, and a FHD IPS display. I am running linux on it and overall it is a great machine except for one issue - there is a very slight blue tint along the bottom of the screen. It is centered and probably goes across 75% of the screen, and is maybe half a centimeter tall at its tallest point. It is only noticeable to me when the background is white or light colored, and I'm usually pretty picky with displays.

Has anyone else who bought one recently and got an IPS display noticed any discoloration? I know that with past models nearly all of the IPS displays had some tinting, so I'm debating whether or not it would be worth it to send it in to get the lcd swapped out. The rest of the screen looks pretty good, it's just the bottom that is an issue.

In my opinion, if it bothers you, ask for the display to be changed, it's the kind of service you should expect with these laptops.

Normally I wouldn't hesitate to request a swap for a laptop in this price range. I'm hesitant though because of the possibility of getting a display that has tinting worse than the minor case this one has.

I know there are a few users here who have got IPS FHD displays in their m4800's in the last few months...maybe they can provide some input?
