I just spwaped it for a B156HW01 V.4 (95% gamut) + a good Color profile and its working like a charm + i dont have any resolution problems with my programms! The original FHD-Display (Chimei Innolux N156HGE-L11) looked really bad.

Just referring to some older threads concerning the keyboard problems under Linux (keys sometimes got stuck and were repeated indefinitely until one hit another key). With the new Bios Update A13 this problem seems to be fixed (as Dell announced it in the description of the update - a bit cryptically). I want to share this information, since some people seemed to have a very similar problem...
    Best,

My M4800 has issue with switchable graphics:

    Spec:
Win 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1 with most recent updates
    i7 4810MQ
    32GB RAM
    SSD x3
    AMD FirePro M5100 2GB
    FHD

    FirePro video driver:
    1. Installed Dell version 13.352.1014.1002,A06 from Dell Support site, sometimes BSOD, 0x000000EA caused by atikmdag.sys, this Dell driver has been pulled from their web site
    2. Contacted Dell Tech Support, told to get driver from AMD.
    3. Installed AMD driver for Dell M4800 14.301.1010 using Manual Select Your Driver, no BSOD, when running certain app, ATI driver stopped working, that app got blank screen. Notice that app is set to High Performance in switchable graphics others are Power saving, for that app to Power Saving, no more issue.

    Anyone having similar issue?

Next step for me is to install most recent AMD driver Omega 14.12 ie 14.501.1003 which is detected by CCC's software update or Auto Detect on AMD web site. I will report back.

The new driver seems to resolve the issue, in CCC the card is identified as Radeon R9 M270X instead of FirePro M5100 before the update.

By the way, that app is configured "Based on power source", in monitor it's High Performance.

I did the same a few weeks ago -- ordered the panel from HIDEvolution. The LG FHD panel that came with my M4800 had poor color and terrible viewing angles. Calibration with a Colormunki improved color accuracy (I posted the ICC earlier in this thread), but viewing angles were still very bad even with typical in-lap use with the laptop directly in front of me.

The AUO B156HW01 v.4 has much better viewing angles and screen uniformity. It does still need calibration to reduce the blue push (which wasn't as bad as the LG's), but after calibration it is far better than the calibrated LG panel ever was.

Hello, first time poster here, I wanted to know if it is necessary/worthwhile/essential to update the BIOS from version A08 to version A13. I can post additional details about the computer if necessary. Thank you!

I'd stick to the old adage:

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it !"

On that subject, and in case it's useful for anyone else, I thought I'd try Win 10 Tech Preview on my M4800 as a clean install. It installed fine last night, and I'd got most of the way through installing my programs when it crashed hard, wouldn't boot, and wouldn't recognise any of the built in Win 10 repair options. By videoing the screen I managed to read that it was throwing an 'Inaccessible Boot Device' error. I have therefore imaged back to Win 7. Proceed with caution!
