Alex, thanks for the reply. I was just looking and I actually have it set for 'plugged in' to turn screen off after 30 minutes, and sleep never, under the Dell power option plan. If I am away from it for a while (I don't know how long), I have to hit the power button to get it to 'resume windows', as if it's been asleep, which is the slow down. Now I'm not sure why that's happening if I have it set to never sleep? I don't want to always shut it off, as I have too many ongoing AutoCAD files, websites, projects, etc. open that I don't want to always start from scratch when I boot up. Any other thoughts are appreciated.

It might be an overkill, but you might consider upgrading to Windows 8.1… or the upcoming Windows 10, maybe.

Like I said, try disabling hibernate w/ powercfg.

Only the second link seems to guarantee an anti-glare AUO B156HW01 V.4.
The first link might get you whatever “based on availability”.

Ok, thanks. I didn't see the tucked away hibernate option under advance power options. I had to look it up on Google to track it down, as it isn't out in the open with the standard sleep options. I was confusing the word 'hibernate' with 'sleep' as far as function. This is the stuff us non-advanced users just don't know every little in and out of, so we are like "huh, where's this hibernate option he speaks of". :). Thanks again for your help and I'll give this a try.

Hey folks - trying to decide between the M4800 or the HP Zbook. My main use is Photoshop, Coreldraw and also some audio editing done mostly with Adobe Audition. For those uses I'm obviously looking for the best display available. My problem is that I've tried two different Zbooks with dreamcolor displays and both of them, plus tech support replacing the screen twice on each, and all of the displays (6 total) had ghosting problems. Blue ghosting along the left size and pink corners and a couple of them had backlight bleeding. So if I go with the Zbook I would be trying the non dreamcolor, but still IPS, display.

My question is: for those of you that bought the M4800 with the QHD display - what do you think of the displays? is it a TN or IPS panel? Calibrates well? Colors accurate? From reading I'm aware of folks having problems with BSODs, lockups, etc with the M4800, especially on the earliest shipments. I don't know if those problems have been resolved, but they make a person leery. Anyway, my main criteria is the display. Please give me some opinions for those that have the high end display on the M4800 and thanks in advance.

I think the display is great. It's IGZO- I think it's PPS rather than IPS. I don't do photo work so I won't comment on the color accuracy but I believe it was well reviewed by notebookcheck.

I had some lockups early on but a newer bios or disabling LPM fixed that for me.

If your main criteria is the display don't buy the FHD version of the M4800! I've never seen the QHD version but it looks very nice and sharp. The only concern about this one is that the interface, icons, texts should be very small! Now I guess that more and more softwares will be compatible with changing the size of their interface.
