That is meant to put the computer to sleep; however, you can configure it to invoke one of other states, or to do nothing at all. The setting is available in Windows power options, where this combination is referred to as ‘sleep button’.

I have never experienced this myself. So this was happening before the keyboard replacement, and after the replacement, it has happened less often but still does? I have no clue what could be the source of this problem.

M4800 and M6800 launched almost exactly one year ago. A refresh soon, or a new model would not be surprising, but there is no hard information yet, so no timeline beyond guesses.

No problem. I'm slightly in the market to replace my M4800, but since I seem to have one of the only ones in the world without these issues, I'm taking it slow.

I've also spotted the double-typing issue, but only when using the internal keyboard and only rarely. I usually use a nice mechanical keyboard with my dock, and I use 120W adapters sometimes, so I'm giving A08/A09 a pass for the time being.

I'm still holding out hope for an A10 firmware with all the known issues fixed and the older power adapter handling. That would be a dream come true for me.

seems there has been a slight internal refresh since looking at one of these in april last. for the base model, the price is exactly the same (£1219 ex vat) as it was back then. the changes i can see are as follows

    apr 14
    i7-4800MQ
    NVIDIA Quadro K1100M w/2GB GDDR5

    sept 14
    i7-4810MQ
    AMD FirePro M5100 w/2GB GDDR5

so just how new are the cpu and gpu above? i'm more than happy with the current shell and screen. if the cpu and gpu are still considered top of the line, then i'll pull the trigger sooner rather than later :)

I'd hold off for Broadwell + Maxwell. Plus, the current M4800 is a pretty buggy machine (e.g. charger/keyboard issues). I can only hope that Dell finally get around to refreshing their mobile workstation design - and QHD working with graphics switching might be a good place to start, along with weight reductions.

Has anybody used an UHD (4k) monitor with the M4800 and the docking station yet and can tell us about the experience or give us some recommendations?
I guess I am not the only one who is thinking that a 28" or even better 32" 4k display would be nice.......

Maybe someone has already tried or is still running two such monitors attached to the M4800? :)
