    The driver version is 8.1206.101.109, dated 4/2/2014. It's signed by 'Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher', which usually indicates that it came from Windows Update. But I see that Dell has the same driver on their support pages at Driver Details | Dell US. This is the only driver that I have installed, and I do have the registry entries. I don't recall ever having installed any other driver.

    In their minds they compare this hulk with the small power supplies that they have just plugged into their HP/Lenovo/Apple laptops.
    So, yes it is more pitying looks and/or comments like "Isn't that thing a bit large?" when I unpack the power supply.

    Thank you skriefal.

    I installed Dell driver 8.1206.101.109 and no change. Then it has to be something in registry. There are HKCU\Software\Alps entries, many.

    Btw, I have found forum articles, that describe some drivers, that offer this two-finger-tapping as an option you can enable. I dont have this option in this Dell driver interface. Do you have it or it has just worked?

    I'm not sure how to compare registry entries. I exported and attatched my Alps part (renamed to .txt).

    Regards.

    FYI I just confirmed that this slot IS usable for other purposes. Tested an Intel 5300 card, and it came up just fine. I just ordered a half height WWAN card for this slot and created a U.fl antenna cable extender. Lead time on the extender PCB is about two weeks, so I'll update you guys at that time. On the same note, if anyone is interested in an antenna extender, let me know as I was required to order a decent-sized quantity in order to get the one I needed. The antenna extender basically allows you to use the pre-existing WWAN antennas in the new slot.

    I haven't found any visible option in the driver GUI.

    There are numerous differences between your registry entries and mine. But I suspect that the "2-finger tap" magic is in one or more of the following registry entries (these are from my M4800). You have the Enable2Flick and TapSettings entries but with different values; you're missing the others.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps\Apoint\Gesture]
    "Enable2Flick"=dword:00000003
    "2TapSupport"=dword:00000001
    "Enable2Tap"=dword:00000001
    "2TapFunc"=dword:0000000d

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps\Apoint\Params\Default]
    "Enable2Tap"=dword:00000001
    "2TapFunc"=dword:0000000d

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps\Apoint\Tapping]
    "TapSettings"=dword:00000009

    I feel we are getting closer to the solution, although it does not work yet after my registry modification. There were no entries about ~2Tap at all, as you mentioned.

    Maybe it helps if you export and attach all your HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps\Apoint part?

    Also there is Alps section in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\, also with no ~2Tap parts. Do they exist in your M4800 registry? Maybe I should replace both Alps sections with the ones from your computer?

    Thank you!
    Regards.

    I would ask a simple question to this thread in your place: can I swap screens? and the answer may aswell be yes, if so I would just do it, or if you dont know how seek help. DELL can take your my and anybody elses complain, but it will be time that youll lose on solving it through complain. thats in my personal opinion.

    I just loked it up and it is very simple to swap screens being that cables used in both instances are standard!

    Wow, I've read through something like 30 pages of this thread and I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but is there ABSOLUTELY no way to get more battery life out of the QHD version? Even the battery life on the FHD version seems to be a bit disappointing compared to previous generations

    Unfortunately, I don't think there is. Best bet is to try to undervolt your processor and turn down your screen brightness. It takes a lot of graphical power to fuel a QHD screen, and that translates tgo a lot of energy used.
