Right, but I don't understand why they can't enable Optimus in the QHD models if both the XPS 15 and M3800 are capable of the same thing. I think they should have gone with a regular 3k IPS display like Lenovo.

Did you try a reboot after the adding/changing the registry entries?

There are some entries under HKLM\Software\Alps that may be related. I've attached the exported contents of both sections.

Of course I rebooted after registry change. And now I deleted both Alps sections from my registry and imported yours and guess what ... ? :D YES, IT WORKS!!!!! Im so so happy now, 10 points, no - all points go to skriefal! :D

So to sum things up - if you unpack your new M4800 then do a registry backup from Alps sections before installing/upgrading drivers. Then you can restore the 2-finger-tap function.

    I'm extremely happy now, thanks!
    Regards.

Great! We'll continue to wonder why neither Alps nor Dell could be bothered to add a simple toggle option for this... :D

Very funny, but my preferred solution is to stick with a working BIOS (A05) that does not completely cripple the M4800 when I attach a much smaller small but completely sufficient 90W power supply.

Surly you cripple your performance by that? A09 seems very good BIOS ver if used with DELL power profiles.
when I put it on "Ultra performance max fan levels" it only kicks in when it really uses gfx and cpu.

I am considering 90W to carry instead of hefty 180W. my max working time is about 1.5-2 h after which it sits and so I belive it can juice up via lower Power supply.

I have also noticed interesting power managment issue, even when its on "Ultra performance" and uses battery It drops graphics to favor overall stability. and if you override that, you can drain battery too quickly! and then it gets super hot which results in it not being able to be recharged imediately until cooled down.

its just seems that m4800 sucks power too quickly if configured fully.

    my config:
    CPU 4900MQ
    RAM 32GB
    SSD RAID0
    HDD 1TB
    QHD
(anyone know how much it all drains from battery if used constantly? please fill us in)

I think this is really bad for battery. its just not giving out enough juice for it.

I get about 4max power hours with slice, and about 6 hours on balanced.

This is pretty weird, Dell changed the actual Bios version update to A08...while the latest version was already A09 (at least, if I remember correctly...) Has anyone more information about this?

My M4800 came with BIOS A08 from the factory. It arrived last Wednesday. I personally don't have any stability issues so far, but I do use the 180W brick.

...weird, the release date is also listed as 7/30/14, and I know I upgraded my BIOS long before 5 days ago.

How many people have the ANSI keyboard with slim enter key as above?
    vs
How many people have the ISO keyboard with the bigger enter key?

Dell does not seem to provide an option to pick either ANSI or ISO on AU or US website.

My friend's work purchased him a M4800 in AU and it came with a ISO enter key.

    I prefer the ANSI keyboard.

    Thanks.
