Yes, they do appear to now have removed all options and left just one machine with a worse processor, graphics card, display and price. I think they've safely talked themselves out of a sale on this one.

that deal includes all sorts of extra things (inc an external monitor) that most buyers just don't need. perhaps they are doing a refresh of the other 4 lines they pulled.

Thanks destinationsky for responding. As said earlier on, I've spoken to them many times, at least three of which I still have the chat logs from.

I'm in the market for a M4800 now (UK as well) and the choice of models on the UK site is pretty dire as you've mentioned. I hope that I can give them a call to order a custom system + small discount as well ;).

they were still able to build one of the £1100 ex vat models for me if i wanted when i phoned yesterday. i got a £30 'discount' off my build when placing my order on tuesday.

still puzzles me why a 6 month old premium laptop has been reduced to one extremely expensive option. anyone with ideas why? 6 months since release is hardly a end-of-line timeframe is it?

If you have any luck scrlk please let me know, especially if you're going for the QHD+ (3200 by 1800) screen.

There is something you guys havent mentioned...

I would personally think twice before resorting to mSATA SSD or optical bay HDD/SSD. They are both only SATA II so max = 300MB/s.

This is a lot off the 540MB/s read I get from my Samsung 840 pro in one of the primary bays. Bay 1 & 2 are SATA III so max = 600MB/s

No problem. I'll enquire about the QHD+ panel, but I will most likely go for the 1920x1080 panel due to the lack of graphics switching support on the QHD+ panel, scaling issues with Windows 8.1/applications and the lack of graphics power to drive certain applications at 3200x1800.
