I was able to find a new B156HW01 V4 panel on e-bay and will give that a try. A friend has this panel and it looks great. I just hope the panel is actually a v4..... But the seller has good feedback so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I got mine from ebay too. I confirmed with the seller that it was the exact panel and not a compatible model, which he confirmed and it when it arrived, it was genuine.

Installation is a snap, all you need is a small Philips head screw driver.

I found you had to read the item description very closely. Many of the cheaper B156HW01 V4 options seem to "hide" the "compatible screen" clause deeper in the description.

I have a big issue when I put the pc in Sleep or Hybernate mode. Quite always (75/80%) the operation turn off the display (even the external monitors) but then the disk continue to work, the led remain on and it doesn't put in sleep/hyb mode.
The only solution is to force the shutdown keeping the power button pressed (with a long reboot of Win8 when I restart)

    Any help ?
    Thanks in advance

I was wondering the same thing. While the topic is up... anyone able to give a definitive answer(if there is one), on which panel is "best"? Between the AUO V4 and the Samsung? Also... when ordering do they still let you request panels?

Two things that make me hesitant on making the purchase of the M4700 is hearing about the horrid 1080p screens, and that apparently it's quite noisy(did they fix this yet btw?). Otherwise it's probably the better choices out there that I have for something new(don't want to get anything used right now).

I had the AUO panel in my M4600, it was very good.

I have a Phillips in my M4700, it also is good.

I bought the m4700 on August 17 and have the same CPU (3940xm). Until now I've owned alienwares all with XM processors. It was my understanding the extreme i7s came overclockable by design, and with the AWs I never had a problem increasing the CPU multipliers using a program called throttlestop. However, the M4700 seems pegged at 37 (fastest stock multiplier) and wont go higher. Do you know why this is, can the M4700 be OC'd? If not I'm pretty p*ssed with Dell right now.

No, it is disabled by the bios.

And, never heard anyone can touch/modify the bios.

I doubt dell explicitly stat it can.
