    1866 is supported; nothing higher.

(Strangely, there are compatibility issues with some Corsair 1866MHz 4GB modules, but 8GB modules work fine.)

Is the nVidia K2000m currently the top nVidia GPU in the MXM-A form factor (i.e., can fit in an M4700)?

Not interested in AMD ... can't lose Optimus.

Does anyone know of the actual implications of choosing Energy Star 5.2/EPEAT ? The sales people don't seem to be able the question. Does it mean something gets set by default in the BIOS that can be turned on or off easily? Alternatively, if you select not to get it, does that mean it can never be turned on?

    Option 1)
    Energy Star 5.2/EPEAT add $0.00

    Option 2)
No ESTAR Enabled [Included in Price]

Wondering if anyone knows if there's a 1600x900 panel option available through 3rd-party vendors. I find 1920x1080 just a bit too hard on my aging eyes ;)

Is it possible to buy the BT module alone? I don't see such an option on the accessories list even when pasting the service tag on the dell site. If it's possible I would like to get one that I can hide inside the laptop case, so it is not taking my USB port.

It's easy to get around this. Personalize the screen by setting the scale to medium instead of small, which is the default.

Has anyone tried removing the discrete video card (in my case, an M4000) from their system, and just using the Intel graphics?

I've discovered my fan issues are directly related to oscillating idle GPU temperature.

Fans come on around 59c, and go off at 49c. Unfortunately, the temp climbs a degree every ten seconds when the fans are off, and declines at about the same rate when they come on. So, yeah, the most pointlessly noisy laptop I've ever owned.

Speedfan doesn't effectively control the fans; they stay off at any setting under 100%.

Re the video card: I'm barely interested in gaming and only use two external monitors without the laptop display, so it's NBD for me -- I just don't want to go through the process unless I know it'll work. :)

This has been reported working on the M6600/M6700 so I don't see why it wouldn't also be possible on the M4700. If there is no discrete graphics card present, the Intel GPU will be used.

Now, as for external monitors, with NVIDIA Optimus enabled (the only other way to use the Intel GPU), the Intel GPU can only drive the internal display and a monitor connected to the VGA port. Any other displays will be driven solely by the NVIDIA card.

So, if you were using the Intel GPU by itself, I don't know if the HDMI or DisplayPort would be usable, I imagine that they are not wired up to the Intel GPU but only the discrete GPU.
