Will this RAM work with the M4700 model:
    http://www.patriotmemory.com/product/specs/PSD38G1600L2S-sku.pdf

I have read that memories up to 1600MHz (PC3-12800) and up to 32GB (4x8GB) for quad processors can be used. I am not sure about the latency and the voltage. My current configuration is 2x4GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz @ 11-11-11-28 at 1.5V, the patriot is 1.35V if I see correctly.

I guess CL9 vs CL11 makes no difference for a software developer workstation? Also, is "ultrabook sodimm" anyhow different from the "usual" sodimm?

Ordered a M4700 but with the wrong screen I have the 1330x and I want the screen with 1920x resolution. (long story)

Does the 1920x screen fit in the same back panel or do I need to order a new backpanel (and/or other parts ) as well?

You should be able to swap the screen with minimal hassle (as long as you don't get the IPS display). If you're ordering it yourself you have your pick of manufacturers/models too. Look back in this thread a little for people talking about it (there's been some discussion recently). Some display models are better than others.

I would like to share with all of you a simple problem that was making me crazy..

From the first day my laptop arrived I was not sure whether the screen wasn't calibrated good enough or my eyes started to see a lot worse. Searching through many sites I have found the tool for my external EIZO monitor which was very helpful in settings better clock / phase. But the main problem, which was a little of granularity I was seeing in the left upper corner, couldn't be improved without physical buttons / OSD menu for the internal LCD screen.

After all I found THIS site which clearly stated "try changing the video mode refresh rate", which I was definitely able to check. And this was the first time, I have ever seen the screen set to.. 40Hz! I was just shocked. Beside the fact that setting this to 60Hz just removed all of my problems with the screen, who the hell set this to default 40Hz value..

Long story short: double check your video settings, especially the refresh rate..

using £80 off coupon: final price : £1,460.41 (online with win 7 pro)

    quotes from sales reps:
    - same as above with win 7 (she said on the phone that Win 8 is not available with mobile precisions, while i could choose it when configuring E-Value Code: W11M4710) £.1,493.99
    - after talking to 2 more reps I got email quote for £1500 (with Win 8 )

Shall I just buy online with win 7 pro and upgrade using the Windows Upgrade Offer to win 8 Pro for £.14.99. I assume I would be eligible?

OR any way to talk to their local UK team and not the Indian sales team?

I don't know about the UK Dell sales team (easy enough to get hold of a local rep in the US), but you will be eligible for the cheap Windows 8 upgrade as long as you receive your machine by the end of January. (You must register for the upgrade with Microsoft by the end of January, and that requires providing your Windows 7 product key which is on a sticker under the battery.)

And of course you'll have to install Windows 8 yourself. The upgrade process is pretty painless, though you'll probably be without UEFI/fastboot/secureboot unless you want to do a clean install.

My system was less than 30 days old, so they didn't really hassle me about it. I'll have to look around for some official paper work. I'll post it to this thread if I find anything.

    Hi,

sorry to bother again. I could only find an 18" Samsung 184HT panel on internet, could you give some more info about the panel? I believe I need 15.6" panel...Also, why did you choose this specific samsung?

    Thanks
    Martin
