Yeah... I believe you said you were going for the lower config, right? I almost spec'd mine out, minus a few things (ie 320GB HDD, 2GB ram, mobile broadband) because a) I would just never use it or b) I didn't feel like paying Dell a couple hundred $$$ for something that I can easily get for a fifth of the price elsewhere and install on my own.

But yeah, happy Winter Holidays to me because I'm not getting anything else.

You and I are in the same boat. I think Dell makes most of their profit on the add-ons. Cannot bring myself to pay 2 to 3 times the going rate for some person to install ram or a SSD. I went with the faster i5, minimal ram, 1920x1080 display. I think the most expensive add on was the sales tax :). Once it gets here, it will get a SSD or two, haven't decided, and 8GB of ram.

Then comes the hard part - installing all of my development software.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much faster the SATA3 is.

Hi, i would receive mine today.

    I7 3740, 500gb HD, quadro k2000, 4gb RAM.

I had bought a Samsung 830 256gb SSD and 4x8 1600 mhz Kingston menor y modules to upgrade it myself.

I want to pass benchmarks with the original setup and the updated one.

What benchmarks did you sugest me?

I dont have any experience with benchmarks.

Hm... I have two delivery dates listed. Dell.com has the date listed as Dec. 3 and the Dell mobile app says Nov. 28. It's probably Dec. 3 but I just thought that it is kind of odd... :-|
