then it must be the smaller one..i get more then 2 hours with the 9er.

about testing it..what kind of scenario would you like to know?
as you can see in my sig i have the more or less minimum setting so a i7 ect could discharge it faster.

The 1h22 minutes was stressing the CPU fully, maximum brightness, etc. Under that kind of scenario, the i7 will use more juice and i'd bet they were using the dGPU as well.

What's the best way to get a deal on a M4700? Should I chat with the indian-based customer rep or call in?

Has anyone looked at the screens with the bezel off? Sometimes on LCDs the colors look a little off if the bezel is too tight.

On the M4700 I did, I also looked at the screen complete unmounted, it changed nothing, with 3 screens and 2 M4700 :( This seems to have serious problems, also with HP. But the M6700 is in factory state now so I didn't unmount the bezel or anything else.
As I wrote it is totally acceptable to me now because it is really really small.
But somewhere there has to be a problem. I will also have a look at this when I have time.
I will also open a ticket with pro support so they know of the problem but they only should start changing parts if they find anything out in general, not with my notebook for trying anymore ;)

next issue now with the M4700 -> M6700 upgrade now...
The primary IDE spring is not working, the IDE doesn't come out as the spring doesn't push it when pulling the trigger (of course the HDD screws are removed ;) ) You also can't pull it out by hand because the spring is holding it back somewhere. I had this issue already with a M4700 but it was partly the techs fault who had is hands on the machine. Ther pulling it out finally destroyed the whole mechanism.
This is now the third Mx700 machine I have which has issues from the beginning on.

Does DELL EVER wake up doing something in terms of quality management / control? This is really poor and I can't think of that this is only bad luck...

I am building PCs on my own since more than 20 years now, never destroyed anything, never had any problems when buying single parts and putting it together. Why the hell is this not possible with notebooks.... :(

Ok, quick question regarding battery life, i'm curious as to how much time you guys have been able to squeeze out of your M4700 for browsing and MS office compared to the notebookcheck review which is, i gotta say, cryptic in the battery analysis. More to the point question, anyone managed to squeeze 8 hours or more?
