Its possible the camera could be disabled in the bios. Its in the system configuration, miscellaneous devices menu.

17 days and no resolution on my problem. They had created an alternate order number for an exchange but that got canceled. For a business department, they don't seem to value customer's time too much.

Dell just lost a fan. Going to return for refund. Really unfortunate :(

    Need Help!

I have an issue that when I dim the screen down to off, the computer shuts off unexpectedly, this happens all the time, and though it's not the biggest deal it makes me lose my work when I hit dim one two many times during night. The computer shuts off abruptly (not through shutdown, as when I power it back on it asks me if I want to go into safe mode since it shut off incorrectly).

Any one ever have this issue? This happened after reformatting... so I reformatted again, and if you're wondering I followed the M6700 fresh re-install guide posted here. I installed the drivers in the exact order posted in the guide, I have an M4000. Any ideas?

Just out of curiosity, what is the graphics card on your laptop?

I mentioned it in the second to last sentence in the second paragraph, it's an M4000. However, I will mention that I installed the latest firepro driver for the M4700 on AMD's site, rather than Dell's site (which is a year old).

I've uninstalled the discrete graphics card ( AMD M4000) to save battery life but now the screen won't turn on after suspend. Has anyone experienced the same problem? .I don't know if I should ask Dell tech service since they may tell me to install again the discrete graphics card to begin with but my purpose is to operate with just the integrated one since it is enough for me.

After a lot of back and forth with customer service I finally received a replacement today. Unfortunately I just discovered that this laptop is doing the same thing when the brightness is turned down all the way. The screen goes black (but you can see a faint hint OF what was on the screen, and it updates with your changes, so it's not ghosting).

Anyone know if this is a common problem? Or a hardware defect? This is right out of the box, hardly even up for a few hours.

The graphics card is M4000 ( I see a theme here). Any help appreicated :) Thank you!

The second unit is following in the same footsteps, now the computer boots to a black screen on restart and it was stuck in a loop. Booting on its own. I finally hit the Fn + Increase brightness key and managed to boot in. Going to see what else is going on.

What an unfortunate series of events. :(

The replacement M4700 is being returned as well. Had to spend a harrowing amount of time on the phone on hold (mentioning 'returns' is not a good idea it would seem).

Sad to see my Precision experience go sour this way, really wanted to like the machine. 20 days, lots of wasted time and money later, back to square one.
