I can answer your question m-z:
When the tech came to exchange my screen I told him that overtightened screws might be an issue. He gladly then turned the screws into the replacement very softly by hand on purpose and we examined the effect: none. He then proceeded to properly tighten the screws and there was no difference..

I think one needs to differ between two problems here:
    A) major light leaks in all 4 corners as described by previous posters (early adopters problem?)
    B) just small color tints in the lower corners.

From what I gather around here problem A is solved. Problem B might just not be solvable because LG (who makes the displays) simply cant produce rgb-led ips panels for laptops without them?
It'd be interesting to see what kind of specifications and tolerances are involved in what is a faulty tint or simply a known imperfection?

@Jutti: It seems that I am in your group B. "Greenish" area in my display is not very large; "pinkish" is even smaller, and only at the bottom corners. Maybe the solution I will have to accept is to move taskbar to the left side of the screen to cover green areas. :)

ok... here i am again. after many attempt to fix the problem by Dell technician i got my replacement today.
i requested to not get an ips screen but i guess nobody have the time to check for that. the replacement turn out to be an ips screen also.
And this laptop has the same problem with the original laptop...
this is really suck. i dont even know what i am gonna do now ? keep asking for replacement screen until i get a prefect one ? or just live with it ?

Also i am in the group B . and i am sure that it non screw related issue. from the 3 screens replacement, the tech tried different thing, he left all the screw out one time to test also.

Today I examined my brother's Sony VAIO VPC-EB4X1E/BQ, which is much cheaper laptop. There wasn't any color leakage and the WLED backlight was perfectly evenly spread. I don't think our's display should be in any regard worse than this VAIO's.

I would really appreciate if @Dell-Mano_G said something. I don't know if I should bother my Dell support again hoping for luck in the replacement of display.

@BeamerPhoto: Do I understand correctly that your display (after repair) does not have ANY green/pink leaks in the corners?

Here is what i have in mind,
i know the screen part number, lp156wf3 -slb2 and price online is about $130.
So does anyone know someone that sell lcd panels that willing to test before someone buy it ? If we know someone, i rather buy from them, have it tested before send out or some like that.

Also to the one without the problem can you guy use hwinfo to see when was your lcd panel make ?
i know all the one that i got replace have the same manufacture date which is week 0 year 2010. it could just be a bad batch of panels for that time frame or some like that.

I have been calling Dell Tech support for well over 10 years. Sometimes I call on behalf of friend or family member who are less computer savvy than me. It's due to all of those tier-1 horror experience, when I purchased a dell, I purposely purchase the upgraded support option, sometimes they are called Priority support, now it seems to be ProSupport. Complete Care may also help. I am just tired of dealing with Dell Tech support who follows a script. I had an unpleasant experience of spending over 2 hours with a tech, AFTER I told the tech I already found the problem (my laptop has blank screen but I can connect my laptop's VGA port to my desktop monitor and use my laptop just fine that way). The tech kept on asking me, sir, can you see the desktop, ARGH! Sir, power on the computer, sir, please press <key> so we can enter diagnostic mode, etc. etc.

My experience with the higher grade support contract has been much better than those cheap ones. I've never purchased just mail in warranty myself, ever since my first Dell. I do not like to have a non-function computer for a long period of time, waiting for my computer to ship out and return back to me.

I'm strongly considering replacement of this display with WLED one. What do you think - would Dell go for such an exchange?

From what i remember, the Rgb-led requires a different mainboard than the w-led display. So i guess simply exchanging displays won't be possible that easily...
Unless Dell offers you a whole new unit of course...
