Leakage and Corner Tint represent two different issues. The backlight leakage is caused by Panel Backlight Uniformity, while the Corner Tint inherits from its Advanced True White Polarizer.

Thanks for the update on the memory I will update when it arrives.
Blimey thanks for the info on the IPS screen got me worried now.

I last year had three Samsung 56" TV's delivered and returned with the same problem, whole forum with hundreds of pages devoted to the problem (AV Forum search clouding bleeding Samsung) However will update when the M6600 arrives circa 12/12/2011.

I have ordered a A3865793 Breakout Laptop Messenger - Fits Laptop with Screen sizes up to 17-inc

TIMBUK2 Breakout Laptop Messenger - Fits Laptop with Screen sizes up to 17-inch : Laptop Accessories - Accessories | Dell UK

The compartment for the laptop is very well padded and has other compartments for spare drives etc seems rain proof as well and has a snug fit had it delivered with the first M6600. I also tried the same style with rucksack style but was not so well padded so sent back with the 2nd M6600.

I had three M6600's this year all sent back for refund faulty or wrong specs

Will check the screen on delivery if you want any more details on the bag just ask.

    Regards Clive

Does anyone have calibrated ICC profiles for the M4600 IPS Screen?

I know that all panels are made different but I was wondering if it would make a difference.. I am still hesitant on purchasing a $100+ Calibration tool for a one-time use.

    Thanks.

Not yet, since I don't have mine yet. But others here could upload one I am sure.

If you are expecting an ICC profile to improve corner tint - it won't. ICC profiles apply to the screen as a whole, they do not help to improve uniformity of one part of the screen relative to another.

If you plan to use a calibrated workflow than you will need a colorimeter, to measure your particular screen and to re-measure it at fairly frequent intervals (to confirm the calibration is still accurate, and to recalibrate periodically). This isn't something you use once only.

On the other hand, if you are buying a wide gamut screen and expecting to use it in an uncalibrated workflow, then you probably bought the wrong screen.

Your theory is absolutely wrong. Except for hardware calibration monitor with 3D LUT feature, almost all wide gamut software calibration monitors unable to reach maximum delta-E <1.3 under Wide gamut to sRGB conversion.

Heh. Perhaps you could be more specific which part of the 'theory' posted above is wrong.

Yes, the availability and superiority of very high end external monitors is something that you seem to love to post about, in unrelated threads (is there a forum topic for external monitors? Maybe better posting there).

However, just because they are better (and I agree that they are) it is not necessary to claim (as you seem to) that all other options are useless.

Hi Chris, I do know that the ICC profile doesn't improve the corner tint..

I was hoping to calibrate my screen, but wanted to see if any calibrated ICC profiles would work "satisfyingly well" with the current screen to save me from buying a $100+ equipment that I know I would only use once..

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely first look for the corner tint problem when I get my M4600.

You should start to acquire external monitor with 300 USD spectrometer like Colormunki Photo. These type of laptop panels are intended for "Showcase/Presentation" instead of "Soft Proofing/ Photo Retouching".
