i find that really weird, because on my firefox, it was remembering it from tab to tab, and i had to change it to do otherwise :S

I'm probably one release behind but on mine with the aforementioned parameter set I have Firefox remembering each tab's zoom setting between sessions. Between tabs only the same website (site not page) is using a common zoom setting. A new tab is back to the non-zoomed look (unless it's website is already in another tab).

Firefox is also missing the check mark beside the option zoom text only which when enabled seems to only zoom vertically which seems to be a bug. No anti-alaising on images but text looks fine so it's probably a simple resampling routine.

So it's a mixed bag relying on Firefox to make up for an extreme resolution setting.

After watching the screenshots in a 15,4 screen, I'm not sure yet...

Nowadays, I work in a Precision M20 with 14" SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen. Now, if I a want to buy a new laptop, I have two resolution options:

    - 1440x900 (14,1 or 15,4 screens): I'll have 150 height pixels fewer.
    - 1920x1200 (15,4 screen), which I think is too small for web, text....

I have worked in a WXGA+ (1440x900) 14,1" screen and I need more "space"... but I think that 1920x1200 maybe excessive...

I don't understand why Dell don't offer WSXGA+ (1680x1050) resolution in their new 15,4 screens!!! It would be perfect for me!!!! :(

I need your opinion about WUXGA screen again... I'm a web developer and student of telecommunications engineering, and I'll use the laptop how as only/main machine.

The tasks which I do are: programming and web developing (Eclipse for PHP/JAVA, Zend Studio, Dreamweaver, etc...), a bit of Photoshop (for adapting web designs), surfing a lot (for testing web sites...), UML programs, mail, office... How do you use your WUXGA screen??

    Thank you!

Again, I had the exact same thoughts :)

    It's also my only machine.

Software development (mainly), web development, a bit of Photoshop, surfing the web a lot, mail, office, well that's it basically :) Oh, and a bit of gaming, I love unreal Tournament 2004. These are my main tasks, so it looks like we've got similar tasks to do.

On 1440x900, there just isn't enough space for everything. Once you use a very high resolution on a small screen, you either say "Oh no, it's so incredibly small! Help!" or "How did I ever use screens with lower resolutions?" The point is: it's better to scale up user interface elements on high resolutions to make everything bigger, than to scale them down on low resolutions to make everything smaller. If I had to buy a second M4400 for myself, I would never ever take the 1440x900 screen.

I use mine for 3D design (3dsMax), graphic stuff, audio production...and pretty much everything else you can think of except for programming/software development.

I would also say it's a personal matter, i love the fact that my 15,4 looks a lot larger because of the high res. I don't use scaling and have no trouble reading text anywhere...i have to say that my eyesight is a bit above average though. And my usage of the laptop screen and my external monitor is about 30/70 where the 30 is my laptop screen and the others are 27" Dell 2709W WUXGA screens

I love mine and the only regret i have is that the RGB LED wasn't available when i ordered my lappy!

I'm using the laptop about 10-14 hours daily...This is the reason which I need to be sure of my decision.

Well the only option is to go to a shop and see if they have a 15,4" WUXGA there....if it's that important i wouldn't take any chances really
