Why should they? It's christmas, all the consumer buy anything they get offered and the companies have holidays. I don't expect any coupons in 2008, the october coupons were just to help some companies to decide whether they buy some IT stuff this or next year.

Good point. However, if they wait to release coupons, then I will be waiting as well. I cannot in good conscience take the leap with the knowledge that Dell will be offering 30% off sometime in the near future. I guess we'll see...

Well, I called Dell and asked for a discount. The discount was not that well, after some discussions I got about 29% off (list price), so why wait for a coupon? If they can offer 30% coupons, they can offer 30% discounts as well.. ;)

I was going back and forth between the M4400 and ThinkPad T500. Originally I was looking at this for $1810CDN ($1445US)

    T500
    Intel P8600
    2 GB DDR3 (1 DIMM)
    320GB 5400 RPM
    ATI 3650M/Intel Hybrid
    15.4" WSXGA+
    3 yr depot + protection

I went to Dell and they offered me a M4400 with everything the same except 2 GB DDR2 (2 DIMM), 160GB 7200, NVS FX770, 15.4" WUXGA & 3 yr complete care for $2000. I went and ordered it only to find that Lenovo dropped the prices again and it was down to $1550CDN ($1238US). I went to Dell and they said they couldn't do any better, so I canceled the order. Shortly afterwards Dell e-mailed me to say they could it for $1799CDN ($1436US). I up'd the HD to 250 GB 7200 for $60CDN and ordered it. If I configure the same system online, right now, the difference is $560CDN!

Wait that's only 23%, maybe I should have waited for an e-coupon. :(

Anyway the moral of the story is that you can get a deal, just by calling in and asking for it or by price matching.

Exactly...never order online, always give them a call to see what they can do. Business reps are allowed to give pretty good deals.
