Ehm well....why is it a prob to just disable it in BIOS?
I'm still on BIOS A02 'cause later versions make the GPU run too hot or get the fans stuck at 100%. The whole downclocking issue only came into life with the BIOS'es you mention. A02 or A03 are both good but don't have any consequences/solution for the audio problem.

I was wondering, would that audio issue still occur if using an external USB sound card? Anyone having such configuration and tested it?
I guess the external sound card will still be affected by the DPC interruptions if that is the problem.

will a bios change really work?

heres my problem. I got a 2.5ghz and 2gb of ram. xp and vista. It came with xp, but i formatted and installed vista business.

i noticed that the audio (video, mp3, or even the opening jingle) stutters and its quite annoying, especially when watching videos. I think the stuttering has something to do with the cpu or fan thinking too much (if that makes sense). I updated the bios from A09 to A11, still has the same problem

I reformatted and reinstalled vista with out adding in the drivers this time.., same problem.

I again reformatted and installed XP, no problem. (still on bios A11).
any idea whats making this problem unique to vista?
