I recently demo'ed some newer games, it seems my is M4400 downclocking as well (along with the system lockup issue). Where is BIOS revision A03 or A02 available?

    Update:
Crysis WH demo mid settings 1280 res. drops to 6FPS @ GPU temp of 130F.
    Half-Life 2 (2004) drops to 40FPS from 71 @ GPU temp of 150F.

it may be stupid to ask, but let's go :
don't you have any other crappy software (antivrus, norton, nero, apple ****..auto-star openoffice,****ting skin...) which could me run while you're gaming and alter your performance and cpu/GPU stress ?

just by curiousity, when windows is load and ready for you, how many process you in your task manager ?
I'm using Win XP SP3 pro and my clean system need only 18 process.

    and you ?

is it possible to have a screen cap of your task manager ?

I*RAM,can get A02 and A03 here listed as "other versions" on the support page
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...etag=&catid=-1&libid=1&impid=-1&osl=en&os=WW1

From memory some of the later ones had 64 bit fixes so don't know about V64 with these earlier jobs, but not much to lose in your case trying them anyway.

I still can't believe the low GPU temps you are getting, like there's something amiss with the temp sensor on the GPU or something......not one of the notebooks I've owned, have had gaming temps as low as yours and Lexi's.....wonder if its related to your problems.
    Are those temps maximum reached?

Just installed the Nvidia Thing Programm to check temps.
My system is Wlan/surf/idle for ~2 Hours now, the fan is at 3000rpm
    Temp says: GPU: 59°

Ill start playing Stalker again in 10 mins, but illl throttle the FX 770 by 10% by hand.

    Original Clocks are: 500GPU/800Memory.
    My clocks are: 449GPU/722Memory.

    Lets see... ill update later!

    Okay this is even weirder:

Bioshock on 800x600 every single setting off: 12FPS
Crysis WH on 800x600 every single setting in bare minimum: Also 8-12FPS.

What the hell is going on!? It used to run so smooth, I didn't make any changes.

When I upgraded to the A06 Bios...Framerates when playing Crysis got 10 mins usually drop to a snail's pace @ 1280x800 w/ Medium setting. When this happens, I usually need to set it to 1024x768 w/ Low setting to get it to a playable state (still not smooth).

Flashing to the A03 bios, removed that problem and I'm now able to play smoothly even for hours on end. Though I do agree that there are some areas where I get some slowness, but it only occurs for probably a minute or two.

Throtteling by 10% doesnt help - Clipping error then (some Polygons without textures, it sometimes seems like running thru a Bluebox)

BTW: i hate! those invisible bloodsucker mutants ;)

I stop plaing with drivers n stuff... my M4400 is running.
Lets wait for another Bios... Service Germany forwarded the problem when i said the whole notebookreview community is waiting for a fix :)
sometimes they just need some pressure

yeah, waiting on a fix, a03 seems ok for now, i have not tried a02, a03 is stated as critical over a02, heh (but so is a06).

Games that downclock for me : brother in arms hells highway, company of heroes. I have not gotten slowdowns in r6v2 or stalker clear sky but i have mostly tested with boi:hh and coh.

I showed off my laptop yesterday at a big party and played the BOI:HH ending scene (3d rendered) and it looked insanely good, and it went smooth, i was affraid it might downclock but it didnt.

what software can i use to report gpu temp when downclocking?

    thank you

I get the same problem after playing Oblivion for awhile, It's the only game I've tried so far. And I think I have Bois A05,
Is it safe to downgrade the bois? Or is that bad for my gpu?

i just tried farcry 2 on a02 and it throttles fast and often, and for a long time.
i also got a e-mail from a liaison dell agent saying ' they would not need to capture my system' they apologize for the confusion so... a07 fix coming or refund streching delay ? who knows... they did not give me any information at all.
