After some more extensive stressing and logging, I've determined that 98C is the point at which the GPU is throttled down. It is throttled down to 275/300 mhz until the temp reaches 82C. Then it goes back up to 500/800.

    I'll try that one now.

What are you running to get to that temperature? Running Crysis for a couple of hours rarely sees my 1700M go about 71 degrees (and it's overclocked).

Just playing Need For Speed. That is all.

After flashing to A02 I am now getting BSOD "IRQL LESS OR NOT EQUAL"

But it only happens when I boot up Vista 64 (which I've been using primarily). I am still able to boot into XP Pro with no problem.

First time I saw the BSOD I ran diagnostics. Checked memory for a good 20 minutes with no issues.

I booted into XP and reflashed back to A03, which had been working fine, however I am still unable to load Vista 64.

Any thoughts? I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it is all a bit linear.

That's odd, i'm dual booting just as you are with XP pro32 and Vista64...using A02.
No idea what difference between A02 and A03 would cause BSOD for Vista :(

Well, I was able to boot in safe mode in to Vista. Once there I rolled back my video driver to the most recent one from Dell. Earlier in the day yesterday I had installed the most recent driver from laptopvideo2go (185.20). Once I rolled it back I was able to boot into Vista normally. So I'm guessing that was my problem.

It is still strange, though, because before I had flashed to A02, I had gone through at least two or three boot cycles with the 185.20 Nvidia driver with no issues.

Next test is to flash back to A02 with my current video driver and see if that works.

Ok, that could be the reason. I'm on the 180. drivers and they've never given me issues, neither did Dell's video drivers.
    Hope it works!

A02 is working fine. Still downclocking at the same 98C, but at least it is booting this time. I'll see if there's any improvement with the new GPU that will be installed next week.
