In November, Dell will roll out the full Latitude ON system, which will be built into the Latitude notebooks and also offered as a low-cost mini-PCI upgrade to models issued with the reader.

What does a mini-PCI upgrade entail? Is that hardware or a downloadable software upgrade?

If it's a mini-PCI upgrade my guess would be that it's a mini-PCI card; hardware upgrade.

There's a lot of competition for those miniPCI-E slots now.

    Intel Turbo Memory
    WWAN
    Latitude ON

I wonder how much BIOS support will be required, are these Latitude ON modules something that could be plugged into the Latitude Dx30 laptops? And what's the point, with the very quick suspend/restore available with Vista anyways?

How do we use it without the button? A boot menu every time we use the laptop?

Talked to a representative. She said it was just a firmware download. The physical hardware is already there.

This is a bit disturbing, I'd say we'd have to buy some kind of "physical thing" as you said... maybe we should ask other representatives...

well it is possible as it uses the new style bios not like the old d and before serious its came on leaps and bounds i would think a bios update would be possible

but most likely it will be a minipcie card as i would assume it wont use the system ram but behave more like a system on a chip

iv not read much on this new go but i assume its pretty much the same as the asus implementation

and from what i hear intel turbo memory isnt upto much anyways i dont think it would help me much as i got the 2.8ghz and 4gb of ram and 7200 rpm drive and will be looking at ssd's soon

but the wwan card could be appealing in the future maybe

I believe you have to buy some "card" but this card takes another spot other than mPCI e slot.
