Well, if you actually read what I wrote instead of jumping down my throat, you'd have noticed that I said it was a step back from E6430s, not E6410. I was merely comparing E6410 battery life that used to exceed 7 hours (81WHr) and was enough to last a full workday. I am more than happy to sacrifice some performance if the new model can get me 6+ hours, which is not impossible if you look at MacBook Air even when running Windows, but it did not appear to be the case with E7440.

In the mean time I found a review at Test Dell Latitude E7440 Notebook - Notebookcheck.com Tests and it seems like the laptop might be able to get up to 6-7 hours under light load. I only wish they reviewed it with the fHD display (also to see how it affects battery life) and not the crappy one.

I have to echo this. I was very unimpressed with those early E series machines in terms of build and design. The Ex020/30 was far superior.

I can give a more accurate idea of battery life. With screen brightness at 1/3rd it will last 6.5 - 7 hours of web surfing and general office e-mail work with 3G connected to Vodafone HSPDA+. I would not have expected my E6230 to last anything like that long! Growing to like this laptop more and more.

Did you order 3G card with the laptop or did you install one yourself? I want to make sure that the new laptops still have the antennas even if you don't purchase the WWAN option from DELL. I already have several of these cards in older Latitudes, so I could save 100 or so Euros if I could just use one of them instead of getting yet another one.

I tried getting some clarification on Intel HD 5000 graphics availability with i5-4350U 1.4GHz, but unfortunately they continue to say it is i5-4300U 1.4GHz, which implies HD 4400, even though I pointed out to them no such CPU exists.

I ordered mine with the WWAN card - it's a new model that Dell call the 5570 but it's actually a Sierra Wireless card. All of the previous Dell Truemobile cards I've had in the UK have been Ericcson devices. If you put an older card into this laptop be aware that it can sometimes take a bit or pratting about with drivers to make it work, the installer is locked to run only on the models of laptops that the card was originally installed in. There are guides online on how to get around it. I'd expect the cables to be there even if you don't order the card at the time of purchase as that has been the case for as long as 3G has been an option.

I wish I could help on the graphics front. Mine is an I7-4600U that Intel say should come with an HD4400 but Dell clearly state it has an HD5000 on the order details, invoice and spec page. In Windows it just says "Intel HD Graphics Family" where it would usually list the model, as does GPU-Z. I'll see if there is a way of telling which one it is later.

Right I've used GPU-Z that says the Intel HD graphics controller in the i7-4600U has 20 shaders, as per Intel's spec for an HD4400. I don't know why Dell are stating this has an HD5000 (40 shaders) but they appear to be incorrect.

    dme123,

Were you able to get it with the 8GB configuration by ordering through the Dell Premier site? Mind sharing, what your laptop cost?

    Thanks

There's no way to order through the premier side if it's just you right? Only for companies?
