Hi Jonh:) what happened to Samsung laptops?:)

i think i have sorted out... reinstall the broadband driver and it seems that is working fine now.. but i keep an eye on it. Ususally i am just installing drivers, some of the " supporting " utilities can make a mess.. but so far so god. Now i have to sort out the aerial connectors for broadband/gps .. 2 are bigger, 1 is smaller and want to swap the 5570 broadband card with 4G sierra mc 7710.. works fine apart of the GPS connector...

I have an annoying problem, since new, with my E7240 (i7, SSD, FHD touch, Windows 8.1). When I restart it after it has been put into Sleep mode there is an random buzzing noise which appears to be coming from the screen. If I touch the screen the noise temporarily stops and then returns. I have tried various combinations of BIOS versions and Intel display drivers but nothing makes any difference. I have even had it on a few occasions where this occurred on a restart from a full shutdown. If I use the generic Microsoft basic display driver it does not occur which makes me think it is a software issue related to the Intel display driver or its effect on some hardware that the Microsoft driver does not.

I found reports of a very similar issue with a Sony laptop....

...has anyone else experienced this issue and perhaps resolved it ?

Another E7440 here and i have also slow connecting to wifi issue. Sometimes it connects straight away, just takes few seconds after boot. But sometimes have to wait much longer, tried to disable Proset but with no success.
This happens randomly, it isn't such a problem but when laptop is such fast like E7440 definitely is it stupid to wait for wifi connection.

sometimes I can't obtain an ip address, even if I give it a static ip win7 can't get internet access. Since I run 4 virtual machines it's a pain to reboot so put it to sleep and then power it on again and all i s good. Not a defect just a quirk I guess. Happens about once a week so I rarely even notice it.

What driver versions are you guys on?

I did not have those kind of issues on 7260AC, but recently I've swapped wlan card to use WiGig.

I had a lot of issues with the 7260AC cards. I went to the WiGig card and been much happier. Connects almost instantly on all network.

On another note, Windows 10 runs quite well on my E7240. Installed it last week and it seems faster/snappier. The drivers that Windows didn't have were easily found with Dell Command | Update. Shocked that worked, but guessing it used all the Windows 8/8.1 drivers. Could use it as a daily machine!

Yeah, I'm glad in the end that I got the WiGig card too.

I found one of the wireless docks on eBay for $30 instead of the $300 Dell charges too - it's not perfect, but well-worth the $30...

Hello, just checking out these forums on the e7240 for information. I scored a refurbished unit with i7, 8GB, 256GB for just $115.99 due to a pricing mistake. Haha. Should arrive today. Can't wait.

This will be replacing an old school VAIO SR390 that I am running Windows 10 on. It runs great on the VAIO and I'm certain it will run even better on this Latitude. :)

^ that's a great deal you got. I probably paid 6 times that for a lower spec cpu in my e7240, but I've very happy mine had 1080p touch and wigig.

Does anyone know of a edp connector 14" screen with greater than 1080p resolution? My eyes are fine seeing 1080p on a 12" screen so I think 1440, 1600, or even 1800p would be ok on an 14"

I just need to find one with external display port connecter in the same location. Thanks

I've had my E7440 for a few months now. I've heard other say the theirs are silent, but that's not the case with mine. The fan come on now and again. I'd say it's a low to medium speed. If there's noise in the room it's drowned out, but if it's quiet, it's definitely there. I was wondering whether if there was anything I could look into to nip this in the bud? Maybe repasting the CPU or something else? Thanks for any help.
