Having both monitors connected via DisplayPort resolved the blanking issue. I have not gotten around to installing any firmware updates, and I am not using a dock at the moment so I can't test it right now.

Were both monitors connected DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort (as in, monitor has DP-in) or DisplayPort-to-DVI? If DP-DVI, did you use active or passive adapters?

Neither of my monitors have DP in, so both were connected via DP to DVI adapters. I used an active adapter (the Bizlink one) for the 2560 x 1600 monitor as a passive one cannot support that resolution, and a passive one for the 1600 x 1200 display.

I am using a 7440 on the latest dock, with 2 Dell 2413 monitors. The video works great, except I do not see anything at boot.

My problem is I can't get audio through displayport as was working on my E6420. Has anyone else successfully gotten audio to work over displayport on the 7440?

I am in the market for a new notebook and really like the look of both the 7240 and 7440. I'll be using mainly with an external monitor but v occassionally on the road....whats so bad about the 7240 screen (non-touch) and can i hook it up to an external monitor to get at least 1680X1050 (more possible??).

got mine today, silver lid, looks like it's very easy to get scratched.
the usb plug of a flash drive, with a little bit touch on the lid a small and thin scratch could show up permanently.
    pretty bad quality.

So far so good with the Synaptics firmware update. I have a user who had problems with displays losing signal via DVI now seemingly problem-free. I'll update again next week but so far the firmware fix seems to work.

Just got my E7440 (1080p touchscreen, i7-4600U CPU, 16gb memory, 512gb SSD, WWAN etc., custom build from the factory).

Problem is, that the machine was supposed to have Win 7 pre-installed with Win8 media+license included. However in the box there was no Win8 media included, and i cant find a serialnumber for Win8. Under the battery there is Windows 8 OS logo.

How am i supposed to replace Win7 with Win8?

Windows 8 COA keys are embedded in the BIOS. Once you install Windows 8, it will automatically pick up the key from the BIOS and activate.
