    After using the E6510 for a few days something is bothering me a bit: there's a lot of bezel space around the screen, especially the top and bottom. They could've have easily fit a 16 inch 16:10 screen in that space. Yet they chose a 15.6 inch 16:9 screen, I guess because 16:9 is the new standard everyone is going for. But I still think 16:10 is more usable on a laptop. I find myself really missing vertical screen real estate on this machine. Especially since this is the business series, it would've made sense to use what's more useful rather than what conforms to a consumer standard.

    Also, just got my E-Port Plus today and wow! This is ridiculous. Windows 7 doesn't recognize it as a proper docking station and there's no way to undock it in software! How could Dell have released such a half-assed family of docking solutions? Without proper docking support, the only way to safely undock when you have things like external harddrives attached is to safely remove them one by one, or shutdown the system first. And without a distinction between a docked and undocked profile, Windows doesn't remember a separate set of desktop icon/gadget placement and window sizes for the monitor attached to the dock so your desktop and windows get completely messed up if you use a monitor with a different resolution than the laptop's LCD when docked. I had no idea it's possible to do docking so badly.

    I have the E6410 and yes, I agree about the external drives. However, Windows remembers my screen resolution settings and positions. Icons are a bit hit and miss though, sometimes it remembers and other times it doesn't.

    I did a clean install on Win 7 on my new 6510 as per the instruction you gave, but getting below error when resuming from hibernate.
    ================================================================================

    Your computer can't come out of hibernation.

    status:0xc000000d

    Your computer will be rebooted. Any information that was not saved before the computer went into hibernation will be lost.

    ================================================================================
    Any steps to solve this to make hibernation work?

    A driver or hardware prevents your computer from coming out of hibernation.
    Make sure Windows 7 is fully updated, and that you get the latest drivers from Intel (for the GPU (if you have one from there) and motherboard), same for the SATA controller. And make sure you have the latest wireless driver from the wireless card manufacture website.

    In addition, uninstall your fingerprint and card reader drivers if you installed them.

    If you open the Device Manager, make sure you don't have any yellow warning icon on a device icon. Also ensure that no USB device is connected to your system.

    You can maybe see what is causing the problem with this built-in tool (Vista/Win7 only):
    - Open Command Prompt as real administrator. This can be done by opening the start menu, typing: cmd in the search box, right-click on Command Prompt chooe "Run as administrator".

    - Once in Command Prompt type powercfg -ENERGY and hit the Enter key.

    Windows 7 will then analyze the system and produce a report detailing devices and drivers that may be preventing sleep or hibernation problems.

    If the problem still persists:
    Start > type: cmd > on the search result, right-click on Command Prompt (cmd.exe), and select Run As Administrator.

    The command prompt will open. In there type the following: sfc /scannow and hit the Enter key. This will scan for damage Windows files and repair them if any. The process will take a few minutes.

    Got my e6510 in last week and loving the FHD screen. One thing is the thinner power adapter (compared to my d860) gets very hot when in use or plugged in it seems. Cant hold it in hand for long, is everyone experiencing this or is it a defective power adapter that needs to be replaced.

    What CPU and GPU do you have? Is the battery charging? When the computer is on light load I would not expect the total power drain to exceed 30 to 40W, which shouldn't cause the PSU to get very warm.

    You could check the power drain by either (i) getting a power meter for the mains socket (very useful for revealing what power each appliances uses) or (ii) using RMClock or similar to see the power drain when running on battery.

    i5-540m with the nvidia card.

    The computer was charging both times i felt the adapter but once battery is 100% the psu cools down considerably so it seems like during charging it gets extremely hot. Wonder if getting a 130w (or the larger one) will help keep it cool during charging.

    Sounds defective to me. Mine gets warm (I have the 90w and a 130w which came with my docking station). But neither gets so hot that I can't hold onto them. I'll check next time I'm charging up but right now with my machine docked and running from AC the adapter isn't very hot, in fact, it's barely warm.

    When not charging it is warm, or hardly warm at all. Just when charging it gets hot. I will see if dell can ship another one out and compare. But think it is normal as I have read on dell review for the 90w supply they get hot.
