My guess is it's probably your video driver... do you have any other unknown devices in Device Manager?

Can any model be upgraded to full hd screen?
Do all off them have 40pin ribbon which is ok for 1920x1080 160x900 screen?
Or initial 1366x768 screens CAN NOT be upgraded?
    thanks

I do believe all E6510s used the same lid and display cable.

    Hello folks.

My recently purchased RAM module has died and I'm looking to buy a replacement. (This one 4GB DELL Memory RAM Upgrade DDR3 SODIMM 204 pin 1333MHz PC3-10600 SNPX830DC/4G)

I paid about $30 something for that 4GB and it has died already and so now I'm considering purchasing something newer. My question is can I use the newer RAM with the E6510 as long as the pins and the frequency match (I know higher frequency usually gets down-clocked)?

Any recommendations? Meanwhile I'm looking through the crucial memory selection website.

Also, has anyone installed 8GB x 2 in their E6510?

    Thanks!

You should be able to use anything DDR3... faster DIMMs, as you said, will be downclocked. It seems like 8GB DIMMs should work as long as you have a quad. Otherwise you'll have to stick with 2x4.

I am thinking of upgrading my memory from 8GB to 16GB. Did you install the 8GB x 2 in your 6510? Did it work?

Max memory in this model is 8GB. 16 will not work, if you are lucky to even get it past POST (which it usually won't) it will only recognize the first 8GB DIMM. I do not think having a quad core i7 will make any difference, it's a MB chipset issue. I know I could not get it to work a couple years ago and it took me a while to figure it out as I was surprised that a notebook only a few years old couldn't take 16 GB, but in the end 8 is pretty much more than enough, it's just that there were really good deals on 16 GB so it sucked not to be able to take advantage of them.

Did anyone else have their Touchpad borked after the last Windows Update? (Running Windows 7)

Can't seem to get it to work anymore. The touchpad is doing the classic, "almost" no response, and sudden jumps around the screen routine.

    Anyone else? Help appreciated. :)

I just installed a fresh installation of W7 64-bit last night on an E6510. Let me double check and I will report back.

EDIT: Okay just checked. Windows is up to date and the touchpad is working fine. Might be time for a clean install or restore on your E6510 perhaps?
