    Hi All,

I have an E6510 with Intel HD Graphics and want to connect two monitors using the VGA port and I do not want to mirror the display but extend it. Is it possible? If so which connector(s) should buy?

    Thanks you!

I don't remember if anyone has asked but how much battery life can one expect to be lost from an i3 flavor CPU vs an i7? Was thinking of going backward to get back some battery life but if it's not significant (getting maybe 2-1/2 hours tops from an i7-620) maybe not worth it.

Dell is replacing my motherboard. (Although the Tech Rep said motherboard, I think he was talking about the IO board.)

The part is being sent in, and the replacement may or may not be required to be sent back to them. The problem I was having was with a loose audio jack and was just probing the cust serv to see what the usual course is, and he just suggested a replacement part altogether.

I went ahead, but now I'm wondering if they can charge me for the component if they decide that my request for replacement was 'flimsy,' or whether I should be good as long as I send the replacement back to them.

    Thanks.

To prevent a potential situation like this, here's what they sent me. A chassis and an IO Board. They do not expect me to send back the replacement.

i recently picked up a E6510 and noticed something strange that I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem.

i noticed that when using the machine it will seem like the screen will randomly dim and brighten on its own. This is with the ambient light sensor disabled.

Ok, I just wanted to know what kind of a wire I would need to hook up my computer to a separate moniter/tv so I can dual screen my computer?

Have you looked at your Control Panel -> Power Options settings? The screen will auto-dim after a certain amount of idle time.

The Latitude E6510 has VGA (15-pin D-shell) and DisplayPort connections. If you don't know all the details, then a standard VGA display cable is probably best for an external monitor. For your TV, a DisplayPort-HDMI cable or adapter might be easiest.

I'm having problems with my E6510's USB ports not coming back to life after hibernate. Seems to be somewhat random. If I go into device manager and disable/enable the Intel USB host controller devices, the ports will work again.

Another random problem is windows getting hung on blank wallpaper screen with mouse cursor before the windows login password prompt when coming out of hibernate when docked.

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I had a Latitude E6510 for 2.5 years. It runs great - i5, 8 G RAM, 320 G, NVS 3100M, HD+, Windows 7 64 bit. A few months ago, occassionally, Windows 7 will tell me the display driver was ceased to function and was recovered. Nothing really serious but it promopted me to update the display driver and BIOS.

After the update, I have the LCD flickering problem when the laptop wakes up from the power saving mode as discussed here: Dell Latitude E6510 and flickering screens? - Spiceworks

I called Dell. They replaced the LCD after verifying the flickering problem doesn't exist with an external monitor (VGA output). The problem still exists after the new LCD. I also found another Dell display driver on the Dell website saying to fix the LCD flickering issue from power up (May 2012). No success.

I followed the above thread's advise and used a specific version of Nvidia driver. The flickering is gone (Back to normal). Now my concern is I might need to stuck with this version of Nvidia driver - which is not supported in Windows 8. Does anyone have similar issue?

Anyone tried Windows 8? I am worried that if I change the OS, the flickering problem will exist and Dell won't support it.
