yes, still plastic i'm afraid. But it definitely looks a lot better without all that finger grease.

Metal palm rests would improve the transfer of heat from the components below. This might not be good for user comfort. Plastic seems fine for me. The palm rests don't get a lot of stress in normal usage.

True...but they still seem kind of cheap to me even compared to the last generation D series. You can hit on them and they seem a bit hollowey, not the most solid. The metal where it is used on this laptop though do seem a bit think to me as well...but then again I haven't really pushed its build quality.

I dropped my E6400 on the floor. It was on a carpet with cement under it. The laptop was open, and hit the right corner point of the palmrest. The height was higher than a table, about the average person elbow when standing up. The laptop had no dents (nor scratches, but that is because of the carpet). This is one sturdy system!

    I have GPU temp problem.
The GPU normal temp is 60-70C, but if I use IE with websites using flash it goes up very quickly and even get to 101C.

    Windows 7 64bit
    4GB
    P9500
    Nvidia NVS 160

    Ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

That's WAY too high. Check if the fan/vents are dust free (inside the laptop, not on the outside) If those are clean and you still get those temps i'd call Dell to get it fixed.

Can't believe I didn't think about it myself...
Althouhg it looked quite clean I blow some air on it and few dust clouds went out.
    Much better now.
    Thanks!
