You could just go to nvidia.com and download the WHQL signed drivers there if it's that big of a problem for you.

Not that it is a problem, just dont see why Dell are not consistent with their drivers, if they insist on us being forced to use the drivers they release, then the least they could do would be to stay up to date.

WHQL drivers eh, might go give them a go, see if they work. Last time I tried nVidia drivers it told me I didnt have a supported card :D

Dell doesn't force you to do anyhting, if you select the appropriate drivers @nvidia they will install fine

the modified inf from lv2go.com works great, you just must have done it wrong -- let me know if you want help. otherwise, for about the last 12 months you've been able to download any driver nvidia wants to offer for the nvs 160m, and all will install. just go to the main drivers page and make sure to select the right device.

Actually, Nvidia, uses a 1 driver for all GPU's per OS. So all that really mathers is that it's a Geforce 8000M (M = Mobile) series and up, and that the OS (Windows) version is correct.

So, the Geforce 8000M series will works and be the same just as well as the Geforce 200M series, which will work just as well as if you picked the correct Quadro Mobile GPU (NVS 160M).

yes..... but if he doesn't want to mess with the inf's, he only gets to use the ones they put up for that particular gpu.

No veritas.. that is WITHOUT inf.. Nvidia supports all it's Mobile GPU's.. Quadro and Geforce a like. Just download, and install.

If you download the geforce drivers.. they will be optimize for games... while the Quadro for CAS level software and such, as simple as that.

True, it doesn't matter which GPU you select, you'll always download the same +144mb file containing ALL drivers for ALL supported nVidia GPU's. You do have to make sure you select the right OS though. On install the correct driver for your GPU will be picked from the package, that's all.

edit: actually, Cyrus might indeed have a non-supported card....the Intel option ;)

has anyone had a problem where they are unable to read SD cards? the system shows the device, but when you click on it, win7 claims that it needs to be formatted, and when you do (or right click, or try to read it) explorer hangs/freezes/crashes. any advice?

Works perfectly on my side. I have tried with a 16GB SD card. I have Win7 64-bit - did a clean install.
