:( how utterly disappointing... very expensive considering for what you get. (I already have an idea how much more it would've been with DDR3...)

Though with all things considered, the M4400 is priced very close for a supposedly better card (judging by Nvidia's own specs). However with no reviews on either of them I'll just have to sit out on this one for now...

Speaking of reviews anyone know of a review in the works on other than the E6400?

do you have any source for that? because that is not what dell's sites say, and not what dell's representatives say, and not what is all over the rest of the internet.

the only problem with that logic is that most of the "problems" that make DDR3 not as attractive right now are reportedly due to higher latency, etc. these CAN be changed/upgraded. better ram that is DDR3-1066 will fit in DDR3-1066.

Does the display port on these notebooks transmit audio signal? If memory serves me right, the older display ports didn't have this feature but the newer ones do.

Think PowerPaule is right. :( But I don't understand why the write it on their Website that all Latitudes will have it. Here:
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/t...g/de/emea/latitude?c=de&l=de&s=gen&ref=homepg Sorry it's in german but here is the translated website: http://translate.google.de/translat...de&s=gen&ref=homepg&hl=de&ie=UTF8&sl=de&tl=en

But if you take a look in the gallerys of the E6400 (http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/p...sYXNoOmxhcHRvcF9sYXRpdHVkZV9lNjQwMCNyZWdpb24=) and the E4300 (http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/p...vcF9sYXRpdHVkZV9lNDMwMF9zdXBlcnZpZXcjcmVnaW9u) and take a look at a picture where you can see the whole keyboard, there's a difference. As you can seethe E6400 has only one Powerbutton and the E4300 has two. And as they say, LatitudeOn has its own Powerbutton. So there will be no LatitudeOn on the E6400 I think. But i wrote to my Dell Customer Care Agent and asked her. She will be back on monday and I hope she defintely will know.

Anyway the E6400 is a very nice Notebook and I think it will be my choice.

    Greeting S.

I really hope that the E6400 doesn't have Latitude On. I find things like Latitude On and MediaDirect useless gimmicks. MediaDirect is one of the reasons I have put off getting another XPS. I have had nothing but trouble with MediaDirect on my XPS M1210. I wish they would make those stupid proprietary Dell instant on things optional.

given that the dell reps have all told me that all systems will have it, the fact that it has only one power button on the gallery is absolutely irrelevant. dell makes different palm rest parts for the current D series (that includes the speakers, touchpad, fingerprint scanner, etc.). and the strip that runs along the top is completely removable/replaceable. so while it might be that the dell reps are all wrong and it will only be an option for the e4300, i doubt it.

@logan -- it is optional. don't use it. and the point for it is drastically increased battery life when you only need minor functionality. its brilliant.

You can always repartition the hard drive to get rid of it (and never touch that button again)...
