Latitude 7450 Owners' Thread

Would appreciate any answers about RAM upgrades.

1. What is the newest/highest speed RAM that I can use? I think the current one is DDR3L PC3-12800 CL11 1600MHz.
2. Can I do 16x2GB? I think theoretically it's possible, but has anyone tried it?

I think the answer to my question about using DDR4 is going to be negative given the difference in the number of pins. (DDR3L: 204 pins, DDR4: 260pins).

And given that, I think the answer to my question about using 32GB is that it's too expensive. Crucial 16GBx2 DDR4 is $186 on amazon, while DDR3L 16GBx2 is starting at $321!!!

I will go with the modest bump up to 16GB. Can't believe even these are $95 now, should have picked them up when the were under $50 a couple of years ago!

 

I snagged 16gb of MicronPC3L-12800S, (MT16KTF1G64HZ-1G6E1), on eBay for $45 for both sticks. I ran memtest on them for 24 hours each with no problems. If you have the time and patience, you can get some really good deals there.

Is there any trick to by-pass the Powershare feature and be able to charge usb devices with laptop OFF or in hibernate state?
Like a custom BIOS or somenthing?
This might seriously be the only one reason I would give it away and not buy any of the Dellswith Powershare, since I'm constantly travelling this is a paramount feature for me

 

I am considering buying a WD SN520 512GB to increase storage.
Has anyone who has already installed an nvme SSD on the E7450 found out if the PCIe is 1x or 2x?

 

I installed it 3 weeks ago. It is KingSpec NVMe 2242 256GB drive (P300-256). PCIE slot reports 2x (Crystal DiskInfo), tested speed is 700MB/s read/write, random read/write is 115k IOPS.
I use it as 2nd data disk, as it cannot be booted from (although it is shown in BIOS).
