Latitude 7450 Owners' Thread

Which port are you using on the computer? I've noticed that the USB port on the right hand side of the computer NEVER provides USB3 speeds with any device. The two ports on the back are much faster than the side port.

It could also be your device- have you tested it on a different computer?

 

Tested every port with the same average transfer rate. Bios Version A17

 

1. What sized files are you transferring? Windows will default to a policy of Quick Removal, which means that it waits for confirmation that each file is written before sending the next one, which will slow down the transfer of small files. If you open Device Manager, select the USB drive, right click to select Properties then click on the Policies tab you can change the behaviour to Better Performance. Windows will then transfer the data onto the drive as fast as it can be written.
2. I have come across USB 3 flash drives with write speeds which are slow but the read speeds are above the USB 2 range so they can claim to be USB 3 devices. What read speeds are you getting?

Actually was only 2 FHD movies. Average transfer rate of 12mb/s. tested on the 3 ports. The USB Drive is rated at USB 3.1. Backwards compatible.

 

Did you check the read speed by copying from the USB drive back to the computer?

But you may want to first check that the relevant driver is up-to-date. This USB 3 controller driver is for Windows 7. For Windows 8 onwards I think the USB 3 support is built into the chipset driver. There's no harm in reinstalling the drivers.

I think this may be a Windows-only issue. I have two 7450's, I run CentOS 7 on them both. Upgraded both to A19, and the processor fluctuates between about 850MHz and 2.7 GHz depending on load. Both of these are i5's, one has NVIDIA and the other does not.

Does anyone have a touchpad four-fingers swipe problem? I've noticed that I cannot use 4-fingers flicks to swich between virtual desktops. Reinstalled touchpad driver, deleted the ps2 mouse device which strangely acts as a touchpad. I also have Dell 7577, no issues with a touchpad at all. Moreover, it supports native Windows touchpad settings.
Whatever...
Do you have such a problem or have any clue what might have come wrong?

is it a relatively easy swap to the "touchscreen" complete assembly on a e7450?

I can get my hands on a nice e7450 non-touch and the touchscreen assembly for a good price.

Can someone at least confirm having a working 4-swipe gesture on their Win10 system on e7450?

 

Changing the display panel is very easy. If I recall correctly, replacing the display assembly itself requires you to disassemble most of the components and is not hard, but a some more work than swapping out the display itself.
