Do you know which manufacturer's display it was? I hope the one I have coming in doesn't suffer from this too much. The LG I currently have doesn't have any.

I have ordered the AUO FHD display, I like the heavy AG coating. I tried getting Dell to do a swap, but for whatever reason, they would not agree to it (despite the manufacturer being listed as AUO in my order). Might be a cost issue.

I disagree about Dell's service overall, I have found them to be excellent. Any display swap related request seems to be a no-go though.

The original display that came with my system was the AUO panel, the replacement they recently sent me is the LG panel and is much better than the AUO panel was.

In addition to the light bleed issue on the original AUO panel, my panel had issues with a lot of bright white spots in the bottom 1/3 of the screen, between the size of a rain of rice and the size of a peanut. The bright white spots were getting worse as the panel aged.

I'm glad they finally agreed to replace it and now this new LG panel looks great.

    Thanks.

I do like the LG that is currently on mine but it's glossier than the AUO despite both being matte. I had the opportunity to compare the AUO on another one and that was actually perfect and did not suffer any of the issues. We'll see how the one I've ordered goes.

For me, the original AUO was much much glossier than the replacement LG. I could basically use the original AUO as a mirror. the new LG is much less glossy and much easier to read in all light conditions.

That's interesting! I thought the AUO screens were generally considered "more matte" due to the AG coating that lent the sparkly screendoor effect. (That many people don't like)

I don't know about the coating, just my experience with the two panels. Loving the less glossy LG.

Nice. Does your LG have that screen door sparkly effect?

I got my AUO panel in, it is less glossier than the LG I have installed right now. I'll post comparison pictures for anybody who might care.

I just received this as a work notebook. The display is 1600 x 900 with an i5-5300U, 8GB and 256GB SSD.

The display is kinda sucky, but it's not mine so I cannot replace it.

But it seems to hold a charge very well and it is plenty fast for office type work. Not too shabby overall.

Dell sent me the entire top cover have the laptop with the panel pre-installed. I didn't have to remove the bezel. Also, mine has a glass layer on the outside, not like what you show in your picture. (I assume it's the touch screen sensors).
The LG they sent me is more matt then the AUO that originally came with the unit.
