I'm looking to swap out the LGD046D with an AUO133D. Could someone please confirm if the part number I have is correct - M1WHV and whether it is a straight swap?

Also, is anyone looking to trade their LG display for the AUO? If not, I'll just end up buying it somewhere.

    Thanks,

    Guys,

I have an issue with unexpected battery power cut what leads to immediate restart (and loss of any work I'm doing at the moment). I've found the reason - the battery isn't firmly fixed and has a little gap so I can move it along the base towards/backwards the display. Initially, I noticed it when I lifted my notebook from the table in a fast way - it just shut down then started to boot.

    1. Does anyone had/have the same problem?
    2. Can you test it? Your notebook should be turned on, but disconnected from the power outlet. Put it on any even surface, grasp the battery any try to shift it towards you - will your e7450 notebook lose the power source and start to rebounce?

    Thanks for your input.

You could probably try to fit in some kind of padding between the laptop and the battery to make sure it sits firmly. If not, just bring it to Dell's attention if you have warranty.

Putting something in between the case and the battery isn't a good idea, at least to me. So I used the second option. Engineer replaced the bottom case and the battery (it's a pleasure to see how fast they disassemble a notebook and assemble it back). This battery sits more firmly than the previous one, don't know whether it's due to the bottom case replacement or the battery (or both). Anyway, I'll keep an eye on how it goes after the replacement.

BTW, be aware that 3-years NBD guarantee doesn't cover battery, batteries have only 1-year guarantee (what is actually reasonable).

I had the battery made by Sanyo, now it's LG. Interesting, which one is better?

    Hello again,
I finally got time to request / do the display replacement and the response was denial:
"Analysis of Field captures as well as service stock captures confirmed the light leakage is within Dell LCD design specifications, there is no defect with the LCD panel or assembly. Furthermore a certain light leakage is a normal phenomenon on FHD panels and due production and mechanical interference with the LCD bezel."

But I'm not really satisfied and think that BL bleeding is really strong (covers almost half of the matrix), look at the photos:

Can something be done to get the replacement in this case? I suspect that simply arguing with the support team isn't the best way of doing that.
They also said that the display replacement they did the first time was some kind of 'exception', which sounds strange to me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I feel for you as I've been in that same situation. My light bleeding was much much worse than what you have in your picture. Literally it was so bad, you could hardly make out the dell logo during the BIOS POST process, and on light background (i.e. word or excel document) everything is blurred out even at the lowest light setting.

Even with such a bad light bleed issue (among other display issues) it took us nearly 16 months (yes that's sixteen months) to get dell to replace the display. And we're a rather good sized customer spending millions with them each year.

Dell support and Dell service has really gone down hill since they've gone private.

I bought this laptop 2nd hand, and noticed the BIOS is locked, the original owner doesn't remember setting the password.
I called the dell support, they said to transfer ownership for this laptop.

Is there any BIOS reset procedure that i can try before proceed the transfer ownership process? I had tried removing coin battery, the clock is reseted but the password is still there.

If there is a method for unlocking then the policy of this forum is that it shall not be published here because the information would be valuable to those who have obtained the notebook by illegal means.

I recently acquired a 7450 and am having a problem with the battery only charging to 70%. I have tried different settings with Dell's power manager and BIOS but none of the charging profiles help.
I ran the pre-boot diagnostics and battery health is reported as 98% (laptop is 3 months old).

Any suggestions on what else I can try?
