Thank you for sharing the info. How much do you pay for this one?
Without Intel wireless PRO which other driver do you install? Where to find it?

I used pre-installed Dell update software which downloaded all the drivers for me. Not sure there were any wireless device drivers, but my connection works fine.

Bought it for 104.000 rubles which is approximately 1362 USD considering current exchange rate.

    @John Ratsey
Thank you, I googled and solved the issue. CPU-eater turned out to be windows update center (wuauserv). Also found that Nvidia control panel. Strangely, I can't select GPU for the VLC plyer, but okay.

I'd be really happy to hear how the CPU is used on the other machines from anyone here. CPU load can easily be monitored using Rainmeter (which I use for several years now) or just keep an eye on the task manager/process hacker/speed fan. Are there any high spikes when opening chrome/moving windows around/opening apps/etc?

    That's my display.

In reality it doesn't look that scary, reddish-yellowish tint is not seen at all. The most 'realistic' picture here is one with the Dell logo.

Is this enough to request a display replacement and is it even a warranty case? Have anyone had experience replacing it and getting a 'perfect' one?
Btw will this bleeding get worse with time?

    1. CPU usage by web browsers depends on the content being displayed. Animated content needs a lot more CPU than static content. I'm using Firefox with, maybe, 50 tabs open (too many to count) and the CPU usage is typically 5% to 10%. However, I use AdBlock Plus to minimise the likelihood of unwanted content loading my CPU. Short spikes in CPU activity are to be expected.

    2. Many displays have some backlight bleed which is most noticeable on initial boot when there's nothing else on the screen. It's a big technical challenge getting uniform lighting from a few points along one edge of the panel. If you can get a photo of a movie which shows the uneven backlighting then you should have a very strong case for getting a screen replacement.

Then I'll try to get it replaced. Thank you for the info, John.
Will also speak with the tech guys where I purchased the laptop (they are authorised Dell service as well) about the CPU.

Well I ordered the e7450 with i7 cpu, 8gb ram, 256 gb mSata, 1920x1080 non touch lcd but it was with the intel 5500 graphics which after using the notebook for awhile I am finding the fan is really noisy and the system gets hot which is disappointing as the price was good.

I am going to see if I can return this one and reorder with the Nvidia GeForce 840M Graphics hopefully I won't get charged a restocking fee.

Does the imposer come with it for the mSata SSD?

The iGPU version comes with a basic fan while the dGPU version has a fan which looks (and sounds) like it was designed to move air efficiently because it needed to handle the extra heat. See the photos in my E7450 review where you will also see that the dGPU E7450 doesn't need an interposer for the mSATA SSD because there's only an mSATA slot and no 2.5" bay. Comments about the fan noise much earlier in this thread caused me to watch Dell Outlet until a dGPU E7450 appeared.

It's possible that Dell have realised that people don't like noisy fans - the internal photos of the E5470 show a properly designed fan.

    Hi John

Thanks, I did read about the fan but had already ordered my system but after doing the updates yesterday I realized that the fan was really noisy which I find irritating. I'm in Canada and there wasn't an option for the Nvidia graphics so I contacted sales to see what it would cost and it's quite pricey but I figured I can go with the smallest SSD and 4 gb memory to lower the price and upgrade later.

I purchased a e7450 through the outlet recently and it came with the Full HD touch screen.

Unfortunately, it had issues with the screen bleeding in all 4 corners of the screen when starting with the Dell logo and when watching youtube videos etc, on a full screen with black backgrounds.

Dell have subsequently changed the panel 3 times now (AUO133D) to try and resolve it and now want to try the LG version.

The screen I have currently is the best of a bad bunch. Would the LG resolve the problem or am I going to have the same issue again ?

    Thanks

    Simon

I haven't seen the dGPU version available for order in UK but they do appear in Dell UK Outlet. I think the bigger customers have a longer list of options than we can see on the website.
If using the LG panel doesn't fix the problem then the cause must the the lid / display bezel putting some pressure in the wong places.

Did Dell replace the entire lid assembly or dismantle and just change the panel. If the latter then it would be prudent to ask for a complete assembly.

Dell replaced the entire Lid each time..

Not sure what to do if the LG doesn't fix it.

I did ask the Dell engineer what his opinion was and he said the screen shouldn't do it.
