I have the same screen made by AUO. Hardware Id is also MONITOR\AUO223E. There is an overall blueish tint to it when looking at a white background. Do you see the same on yours? Just wondering if I got a bad screen.

    Thanks

No blue tinge on my screen, it is crisp and white.

Video Update 1 - Anyone else seeing poor external analog video quality? When running VGA @ 1920x1080 the external monitor display is poor. Fuzzy, noisy and dim.

Video Update 2 - Cannot get the machine to drive 3 displays (internal LCD, HDMI and VGA). I thought this was supposed to be a feature of the 4000? - 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500 — Configuration 3-Displays FAQ

Fan Update - I'm starting to agree with others that have commented on the fan noise. It is fairly obtrusive when it kicks in, and seems to kick in at anything above 5% CPU utilization. I hope Dell fix this, but I am concerned this laptop might have a fairly short lifetime given the imminent arrival of Haswell. Once the new models come, I suspect Dell's interest and desire to fix this one will low....

Yep, I have an i7. But I don't see that as a requirement as per the link I posted, first FAQ, mentions i7, i5 and even i3....

Three independent displays are only supported for these Intel® Processors when used with an Intel® 7 Series Chipset Board:

    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500
    Intel® Pentium® Processors 2000 series with Intel® HD Graphics
    Intel® Pentium® Processors G2100 series with Intel® HD Graphics

Can anyone else with the 1600x900 HD+ screen comment on its quality (e.g., colors, brightness, viewing angles). Alternatively, does anyone know of any reviews where the system contained the HD+ screen?

There is a review with the 1600x900 screen here: Review Update Dell Latitude 6430u HD+ Ultrabook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

The fan readings are so different from their previously reviewed unit: Review Dell Latitude 6430u Ultrabook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

It looks like the temperatures are better on the unit with the louder fan; did Dell do a bios upgrade that changed fan activity/settings?

    Hi gang,

I finally had to accept the inevitable, my Latitude E6400 is running hotter than my old Civic hatchback with a blown head gasket (4-speed, vinyl seeds, those were the days)! It has served me faithfully for 4years and 5 months, survived a 10-ft fall onto concrete and several spills (beer, water, beer, coffee, beer)....the best laptop I've ever owned!

I tried the E6420 last year and ended up returning it. The display quality sucked and it was heavier than a boat anchor.

I started searching thru Dell Outlet with two requirements- 14.0" or less display side and MUST have 1600x900 (or HD+) resolution

I didn't pay much attention to the E6430u when it was introduced be it didn't have an HD+ display option. I didn't realize until today that the option was added earlier this year! I found a great, NEW one from Dell Outlet with everything I wanted including MS Office 2013 Home & Student for $864.40 with tax and shipping!

    Dell Latitude E6430u
    Win 7 Pro
    Intel Core i5-3427U
    14.0" HD+ (1600x900) Anti-Glare LED
    128GB SSD
    DVD-RW external w/ E-Module External Media Bay
    Intel HD graphics
    Integrated Webcam
    Backlit Dual-pointing Keyboard
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    6-cell Battery
    Dell 1601 WiGig wireless
INCLUDES MS Office Home & Student 2013
    Dell Outlet NEW
    3-year On-site Warranty

It will be here on Thursday or Friday...in the meantime, I'm thinking I may need to resort to ice or liquid nitrogen cooling my fading E6400....or borrow mom's E5400 for a few days.

Ok, I noticed that my corporate IT department did not put the Dell Connection Manager onto the image they loaded. It is not listed when I view all software relevant to my machine, sooo.... Any ideas where I can download the connection manager from?

    Thanks

    First Impressions on D5000 Dock.

    Pros
    Small
Lots of ports (apart from USB)
    Setup & connection was easy
    Mostly works
Clear LED's show you status of pairing
Front USB and 3.5mm earphone plug
Cant' tell that video is wireless, no appreciable lag or other artifacts when moving a window or playing a video (I played a 1080p video on my 1080p HDMI connected monitor with no problems)
    Sound over HDMI works fine

    Cons
Even out the box there were several fine scratches on the shiny plastic on the back of the enclosure. Not good QC from Dell
Every so often the HDMI connected monitor will blank out and then come back. Doesn't do it when it was directly connected to the notebook
Not enough USB ports. Seriously, only 2 3.0 on the back and one 3.0 on the front. There is enough height in the enclosure to have made each of these ports a double-stacker. I would gladly swap to USB 2.0 to double the number of ports
No eSATA port. Still have to plug my 2nd HDD into the eSATA port on the back of the notebook
Gets hot. Not good for long-term reliability
Wish it had PS/2 K/B and Mouse (I know, I know but I use a KVM and don't feel like buying a USB one just yet). I'm using a 10-year old USB to PS/2 adapter that works fine though
Can't enter password from cold start, have to do that on the notebook k/b. I know some users claim this has been fixed, but I have the latest drivers and don't see that.
Docking and paring adds lots of new devices (I counted something like 10 during enumeration). The device shows as a PCI bridge to the H/W manager.
Latency of GBE. Direct connection through onboard n/w port ~5ms, same cable through the dock port ~9ms
Dock doesn't pair until you have logged in.

    Summary
It mostly works, but I still yearn for the full, port-rich dock that I had on the E6400, E4300 and E4310 (i.e. the e-dock). Since this is the first of its kind, I'm sure refinements and newer versions will be coming along.

Ask away if you have any questions

Update - I can now logon from login screen on USB connected keyboard and mouse. I rebooted after an update and it started working. I was not prompted by the D5000 dock installer to reboot, so I didn't but it appears you have to do that in order to get the logon to work.
