This is replacing a Dell E4310. But I found that too big to travel with, so my regular travel notebook has been a Lenovo U150 (11.6" CULV Core 2 Duo with 8Gb and 750 GB HDD). The E6430U should be around the same weight. It was the smallest notebook on the preferred list at work. The other option was a Macbook air but for some reason the MBA doesn't really excite me. Of course I would have liked to have Haswell but I think the IVB i7 will be fine.

    Configuration:

    Latitude 6430u, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Processor 3rd gen Intel® Core™ i7-3687U Processor (2.1GHz, 3M cache)
    Memory 8.0GB, DDR3-1600MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMMS
    Graphics Intel® HD Graphics 4000
    Smart Card Reader Smartcard Reader
Primary Storage 256GB Mobility Solid State Drive 256SSD
    LCD 14.0" HD+(1600x900) Anti-Glare WLED-backlit, WiGig capable
    AC Adapter 65W A/C Adapter (3-pin) (BFR-PVC Free)
External Primary Optical Device 8X DVD+/-RW
    Wireless Dell Wireless™ 1601 WiGig
Primary Battery 6-cell (60WH) Primary Lithium Ion Battery
Hardware Support Services 3 Yr ProSupport + 3 Yr NBD Limited OS After Remote Diagnosis U3IP [969-4849]
Additional Power Options 3-cell (36WH) Additional Lithium Ion Battery, (3.0Ah) ExpressCharge Capable 3C2 [312-1408]

I just received mine today. Nice machine. Only thing is that when the fan kicks in, it's at a high speed and annoying. And seems to keep going for a long time (at least when plugged in). Anyone else seem to have the same thing?

I believe it's been mentioned before. There maybe a BIOS update to fix. What laptop did you own before?

A04 appears to be the latest one. But it was updated in February, so I'm guessing it probably didn't do much with the thermal settings if people are still experiencing the issue. My old machine is an E4300 - and still runs great.

E4300 is very similar to my E6400 with the same lovely keyboard. How does the 6430u keyboard compare?
