I'm so torn on the FHD vs UHD. Also, should I wait 2 more months so I can get a fingerprint scanner...

It might be like the 5510 where the nominally 45W CPU is capped at 35W. However, the 6820HQ in my 5510 seems to run as fast as I would expect a 45W part to run.

5520 has the same old keyboard but e-port is removed...

As far as I read the 5510 doesn't have an e-dock as well, so no change here. 7xxx is the only precision model with e-dock.

Confirmed, no eport dock on the 5510 (or its predecessor, the M3800).

STILL no ECC? Well poop. I don't see where that's indicated anywhere on Dell's site. That's annoying. Any hope for ECC in the near-future from Dell? Or are ECC DIMMs even available from anyone at this time?

From Dell support, FWIW: "this is the first phase of launch of Precision 5520 and now it comes with Non Ecc but the upgraded launch will also see the ECC memory going forward." So I guess I'm waiting. He couldn't confirm that ECC would come at the same time as the fingerprint reader, but here's hoping.

Update: no fingerprint reader. Not sure where I read that... Dell support: "I confirmed with the product team and ECC RAM will be available on Precision 5520 update but there is no update on Launch date and it will not be offered with the Finger print reader."

I mean I'm curious why they would cap it at 35 W either way, when the XPS 15 is 45 W. Is the M1200 quatro more power-hungry than the GTX 1050?

I mis-understood your question and assume that Dell was listing 35W CPUs. In fact, they are all 45W. Whether they need 45W is another matter. I had an E5570 for a while and the CPU was nominally 35W using TDPdown but it didn't appear to affect the performance. Please clarify your concern about 35W.

Will it run at full turbo speeds, or throttle? The reason I would buy a precision over the XPS is the 7820HQ.
