Seems like your power options might be to blame. You can try disconnecting and reconnecting the AC adapter, after waking it up, to see if it jolts it into gear. It's safe to set the "minimum" level to 5% (at all times, on battery and not) so that the CPU can throttle down to save power and produce less heat when there is nothing going on, but I've found that the "maximum" threshold doesn't quite work as expected (the %'s don't line up with reality).

I've since set my minimum processor power option settings back to 5% for both AC and when on battery. My initial "problem" was that I had the options set to run at a min 5% on battery but 100% min on AC and I was surprised when it was running at .44 GHz while plugged in. Either the AC adapter at the time was not plugged in sufficiently to wall or at the brick. I suspect the wall outlet as I've had trouble in this business center wall outlet being flakey before. So I'm calling it user error. No issues since setting both AC and battery Min to be 5%, and working great. *and I'm not using that old electrical outlet again until management fixes it.

I just began to notice a slim blue tint of a line in center on my 4k display. AU Optronics B173ZAN01.0

I cannot see it except on solid black image.

I have 3.5+ yrs remaining on my 5yr Pro Support Plus, so I'm in no rush to do anything about it. And I don't notice it 99.99% of the time. I really only noticed it when booting up a VM bios that had black background and then I began to investigate if it was my eyes playing tricks or whatever..

Anyone else have this blue tint line? I've been careful with my laptop and keeping it in nice plush backpack bag but I guess I mustve bumped it? no damage on the lid or shell anywhere

    Hey YGOHome,

I'm trying to find if there is anyway to get the XPS 9560 to do discrete graphics output mode.
Is there any way you could dump your bios ROM file for me to take a look to see what setting values are being used in the bios?
I have a separate thread where I'm posting any of my findings.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/xps-9560-disabling-integrated-graphics.806855

For bios dumping I used https://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/9856-Universal-BIOS-Backup-Toolkit
The application seemed to work OK and I checked it with virus total (some scanners seemed to report it but I suspect that may be because it attempts to read your bios, not entirely sure).

You may be able to dump it using the AMI Tools dumper I mentioned in my thread (It didn't work for me for some reason though).

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

    @peter64

    Hello Peter

I'm considering trying that Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit to get a dump of my BIOS for you. To be honest though I'm a little bit leary of it, although seems alot of people trust it. I'll let you know. Perhaps after I backup my system this weekend.

This is more than just a setting in the BIOS. The Precision M4X00, M6X00, and 7XX0 actually have a multiplexer/switcher in between the GPUs and the display. This is a discrete piece of hardware on the motherboard and the BIOS can configure it to select which GPU is driving the display output.

The smaller systems (Precision 5XX0 and XPS) do not have this multiplexer, the iGPU is essentially hard-wired to the display, and the dGPU can only output to the screen by sending the data through the iGPU.

One notable exception is the M4800 with the higher res screen - this has no Optimus, it's always using the dGPU.

Right... this also applies to other "unusal" displays from that era (IPS in M4600, M4700, and M6700, and the 3D display option that there was in the M6700)... I think that this is more because the iGPUs of that era was not capable of driving those displays.

Hi, may I ask if Precision 7710 (or M7710 - I'm not sure what the difference is) has Microsoft Precision Touchpad?

No, it does not. It has an Alps touchpad and it does not support the (Microsoft) Precision touchpad features in Windows 10.
